What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Yes, famously, but there’s still a lot of metal used during production. It’s just a ‘most interesting car’ to see at twilight on a Tuesday during the commuter rush. I also noticed that his driver’s front chrome trim ring was a little crooked and wobbly and intended to let him know at a stoplight (and also ask what year) but prevailing traffic patterns didn’t let me get close.

My uncle has a '71 convertible with side pipes and a really small supercharger on, I think, a 350 but under the hood. I’m not really a Corvette guy but that’s a cool car.

I just saw a ‘silver’ (silver/bronze?) Porsche 944 in someone’s driveway.

They forgot to polish the silver.

It looks like my neighbor (or possibly someone visiting them) just got a new Ford Bronco. It is shiny and new and has one of those temporary paper tags. I’ve seen its little brother, the Bronco Sport, on the road a few times, but I think this might the first time I’ve seen the regular new Broncos in the wild.

In other news, another neighbor had his 1979 Buick Skylark out (I talked to him once and confirmed the year). It’s not in perfect condition, but pretty darn well preserved for its age.

Where’s the “jealous” emoji?
I’ve had a Bronco on order for 19 months…

Anyway, I saw a “real” mini yesterday:

Whenever I’m driving the MGB and see a BMW MINI I think, ‘Mine is a real English car!’ Always wanted a real Mini (note lowercase).

Real Minis are so much fun to drive! So are MGBs, but very different than the Mini.

I went to the Vintage Sports Car Racing banquet last night. Because winter, the vintage cars weren’t out, but it was held at a major IMSA team’s facility. We were surrounded with carbon fiber bodies, chassis, many intimidating tool chests, and 4 haulers. It was great.

Driving up Scottsdale Rd, I saw a very purple car. I got behind it, and read the nameplate.
Huh. I had no idea Lamborghini made an SUV.
Sorry about the crummy picture:

Everybody makes an SUV nowadays. Last year I saw a Maserati SUV on the road.

Yeah, the Lambo SUV is the Urus. I’ve seen a few round here - in particular a couple of years ago (pre-pandemic) there was a black one with odd plates that looked almost like diplomatic plates, that I saw several times near Marylebone station. (I’ve seen the Maserati one a few times as well).

A few weeks ago I saw a white Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, and a Ferrari 488, on the same day (both in London) which I thought was good.

Then a few days after that, going to the shops where I live, a Ferrari 355 and a dark grey / matt black 1970s US muscle car of some kind with “SS” on the front, which having looked it up makes it a Chevy Super Sport of some sort, but I’m no good with those and don’t know which model it was… it must have been either a Chevelle or a Camaro, probably a Chevelle I guess. I saw a nice similar aged Ford Mustang a few days after that, too.

Anyway, today exceeded both of those days. There must have been some sort of special event at the hotel in The Shard because this morning, parked outside, along with a Rolls Royce and the usual other nice Mercs and so on, there was a Ferrari GTC4 Lusso - their latest hatchback (I refuse to say “shooting brake”) and I think the first of those I’ve seen, as well as two Lamborghinis - an Aventador in black, and a Huracan that I think had been modded. It had a big non-standard wing on the back and appeared to have extra exhausts / turbochargers or whatever - the back end was opened up with lots of extra chrome pipework, anyway. It also had a big decal on the side from some sort of sports car hire place, I think, which spoiled it a bit. My view was partly blocked by pillars so I couldn’t really see. So that’s a fair lot to see in one day while just going about my business.

That hotel seems to be getting towards The Dorchester (on Park Lane) in terms of the number of exotic cars you see outside it on a regular basis, and it’s pretty much opposite where I work… although The Dorchester leaves the best cars outside to show off, whereas this place in The Shard only seems to have them there temporarily before they’re moved elsewhere, possibly to their underground car park.

And surprisingly the Urus isn’t even Lamborghini’s first SUV. In the late 1980s / early 90s there was the LM002, nicknamed the Rambo Lambo. Supposedly they wanted to build a military vehicle akin to the HUMVEE, but no military wanted it, so they made it a civilian vehicle. Watching videos of them on YouTube (I don’t think I’ve seen one in person before), it is really strange hearing that screaming V12 in an SUV.

As suggested in that Wikipedia article, they were very popular with oil sheiks.

Even Ferrari are about to release an SUV apparently:

It was stranger in person. I don’t miss it.

A goat sighting in Redwood City this morning.

1966 Pontiac GTO. Very clean (although a bit of rust at the bottom of the rear window). Still, quite nice.

I didn’t think that bright yellow was a stock color so I asked the best goat expert I know, my FIL. Nope, not a stock color.

Seems to be a stock color for '67, though.

That’s different.

Yeah my FIL, before he saw my pics, mentioned that Mayfair Maize. But he said that yellow is subdued, while I said this one really pops (the pics don’t depict that; I didn’t do any touching up).

Once my pics arrived he immediately said that was not a Pontiac color for that era.

I’m a Mopar guy but I always liked those over/under headlights on the pre-68 GTOs.

Yeah me too, it’s a good look.
