We got so much snow in Putnam County the month before that Dad dug a trench for the family dog – a Husky/Samoyed/German shepherd mix.
Actually, I’m pretty sure this is it. The car wash is near enough that I have to listen to it if I open the windows. But I am very surprised that he would do this during the storm. I did see the car going the other direction about 30 minutes later, still pristine. Home for lunch, I suppose.
Yep. But on ice, watch out.
Last night when I was driving down to In-N-Out to get my double-double fix, I pulled up at a red light next to an old VW Bus that was decorated with Christmas lights. Behind the Bus was an old Beetle that was also decorated with Christmas lights. Behind the Beetle was another classic Bus, and it too was decorated with Christmas lights. Later when I was on my way back home I saw a pickup version of the Bus (fairly uncommon in the US due to the “chicken tax”). And yes, it too was decorated with Christmas lights. I’m guessing a VW car club must have been holding an event that night.
Awesome. I would have loved to see that.
Back in the 90s, the area of St. Paul that I lived in had quite a number of Jews that had immigrated from eastern Europe. They definitely got into the spirit of things by one-upping the people who would drive with Christmas wreaths on the front of the car or truck. They fashioned Menorahs and a couple of them had candles that would be lit to indicate which night of the holiday it was. Really wonderful to see. I would wave, they’d wave back or flash their lights. All the kids loved it, too.
Now that there’s snow and ice around, I’m not expecting to see cool cars around here for the next few months.
Why yes, those were the ones. They weren’t driving with the Santa parade when I saw them, though. They must have been on their way to or from the parade.
So many people need our help. This ‘nomadland’ is here in Silicon Valley. 40-50 RVs have been parked there every day for years. There are many lots like this here. People got nailed badly in the 2008 housing finance crisis.
Ludicrous speed?
A 4th generation (1991-96) Chevy Caprice Classic wagon, the whale version.
Someone on my block bought a trailer and over the course of a summer built it into one of those by himself.
A few weeks ago I saw (possibly) this, while driving through a nearby neighborhood.
I’ll have to go back and check again someday because I don’t think this is the same one I saw. I’m 95% sure it was an actual Airstream (the trailer in this picture says “Spartan” on the front) and I recall it looking more Airstream-y.
I was looking for something unrelated and found these:
I happened to look out my passenger window and saw this, it took me a few seconds to figure out what was going on. This car was considerably smaller than a production Monte Carlo (I believe that’s what it is, despite the Honda sticker), so my brain was in this weird ‘small or far away’ loop.
.
Then I saw the rest of it:

Behind this in a Taco Bell drive through:
I saw a, well I was to surprised to tell what kind of car it was, but it had 2 foot tall menorah stuck to the roof. Chrome. With lit up candles.
I don’t know how common the Hanukkah Parade is, but I think it’s more than just a Milwaukee thing. It goes past the house I grew up in, where my parents still live, every year.
All those cars, with those toppers, isn’t out of ordinary given it’s a parade. However, they must put them on and take them off at home instead of at a central meeting place. It’s, to use your word, surprising to see random cars with menorahs on top of them driving around a few hours before and after the parade. I imagine a lot of people don’t even realize the parade is that day (it’s not well publicized outside of the Jewish community) until they start seeing them in the afternoon.
A super-swanky Rolls-Royce Spectre in white, right next to me in heavy traffic during blizzard conditions tonight.
Anybody want to buy a 1971 Plymouth Duster? It drives well. I drove it today, representing an interested out-of-town buyer. But I would not recommend it because of the rust concerns at the A and C pillars. If interested, contact Joe the seller. See the picture with Joe’s contact info.
At least it was a fun drive for the short 2 miles I drove ‘er today.

Quite interesting. I’ve been noticing some electrics that, like this one, have a faux front grill to make its appearance more acceptable. I’ll share some recent pictures of that.
