A Mastodon?
ETA: The one in your picture appears to have an extra row of seats or something. Yours has more space between the door and the rear wheel.
I’m guessing a custom job from these people:
They are and unfortunately common here in L.A. The more interesting ones are the even bigger ones that have a large arm to right tipped over semi trailers.
Congrats!
If you watch Highway Thru Hell you will learn all about rotator rigs.
Saw one of these on the commute home (surface streets). They sure do look like props for a bad 70’s sci fi, don’t they?
I was at lunch today and when I came out of the restaurant, there was some sort of exotic car parked in front of the halal restaurant next door. It had no marque anywhere I could see, but it looked a lot like the Lamborghini’s I’ve seen lately. But no markings! There was a script capital R decal in the driver’s side windshield, but I assume that was the rental company’s logo (the rear plate holder advertised luxury car rentals). Sorry, no pictures, just what I saw (front, driver’s side, and back) as I walked alongside it on my way to my car.
Very nice color. I would call it ‘Ice Blue’.
Yeah, we have a few of those around here. Front axle and 3 rear axles. It means that someone is in serious shit.
If you are behind one, expect to get seriously delayed.
A beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang, spotted in a parking building this afternoon.
I stopped to take pics. My green Outback is behind it (my diesel Jeep died; it’s a long story). If you zoom in you can see da wife there.
Darryl, a worker in the parking building, came over to ask, Sir, is there a problem? When I told him what I was doing (drooling, basically), he explained how he saw its owner pulling in and, to protect against door dings, offered to direct him to this disabled space with lots of room around it. The owner, not disabled, asked Are you sure? Daryl assured him it won’t be a problem. So Darryl thought I was eyeing it suspiciously because it did not have the disabled markings for the car. Darryl was only protecting the car. Good for you, sir!
Once Darryl was assured that I was only admiring the car, we then struck up a nice conversation about this beauty.
Car people. We are everywhere!
Nice ride, @Tride ! I like the color.
Okay, I’ll share my new car too. Its a 2024 OBW, or Outback Wilderness. I bought it 3 weeks ago and mounted larger and stronger all terrain tires, BFG KO2s. It now has 10” of ground clearance, which is more than my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has.
The OBW is very different than the GC, but so far I’m loving it!
Nice Sub. I think the taller tires might tell you you are going slower than you really are.
Exactly that, yes. The delta is about 10%. I had a similar delta on my Grand Cherokee so I’m used to that. Also, the GPS shows my actual velocity so it’s a good reminder.
Del Monte Forest - a grill badge on some nice cars. What’s the deal?
The DMFPO is the Del Monte Forest Property Owners. A $50 annual membership. The Del Monte Forest is on the Monterey Peninsula and includes Pebble Beach. Hey if I pay my $50 annually will they give me a shiny fancy car? Should I try? Membership – Del Monte Forest Property Owners.

I think one has to buy a house at Pebble Beach before they can buy a grill badge for their car. The median house at Pebble Beach in 2023 sold for $2.8M. Yikes! But, hey, that’s $500,000 less than the 2022 prices. And 2 bedroom homes decreased by 31.8%.

What strikes me is that on that Mercedes that badge appears to be held in place with zip ties.
In the second pic the badge appears to be held in place with actual bailing wire. On a Bentley. It also doesn’t appear to be wired on straight.
I’m all for low-tech ingenuity, but sometimes aesthetics trump thriftiness.
You’re right! Too funny. I hadn’t noticed. Zip ties, and on the Bentley it looks like gardening wire. Only because it’s green.
Pretty lame.
I think the badge says “442”
