What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Yeah, I own a Beetle and it is definitely not cheap transportation. Though as far as old collector cars go, it is pretty cheap to own and very easy to get parts for it.

It’s also worth about $15k to $20k, which isn’t bad for a car that originally sold for $1600.

While we’re on the subject of Beetles, I saw one yesterday (not mine). No pics as I was driving and it came from the other direction. It was not restored and had more of a rat rod vibe going for it. It had been lowered (which I hate) and had a roof rack, and the engine sounded very high performance and definitely not stock.

My own Beetle is currently stuck in my garage. Friggen squirrel decided to chew my garage door wiring. He completely removed about a foot of the switch wiring up near the door motor. I’m surprised the little monster didn’t electrocute himself.

Took a trip to western Mass for some spring skiing and visiting, spotted some fun cars.

VW Type 2, first generation, maybe a 1967 model, complete with surfboard on the roof rack:

Second, in the ski area parking lot, the ultimate spring ski car, an early 70s MG MGB roadster:

Finally, also at the ski area, a 4WD Suzuki Every van, no idea what generation:

I’m getting an error ‘Imgur is temporarily over capacity’

Anyone else?

How do you figure, the skis are almost as long as the car is, & there’s no roof for a roof rack? All our ski areas shut down by mid-March

No, I can see 'em.

Thanks. Might be some sort of Add blocker weirdness on my end.

It’s completely impractical, the perfect vehicle for the absurdity of closing day skiing in shorts and t-shirts.

Aaah, in a stupid way; that makes total sense. :upside_down_face:

Spotted in my work parking lot, an import RHD Mini Cooper with the license plate SMOL. I assume that’s “John Cooper” written on the racing stripe.

It’s so cuuuuuuuute.

That’s not a car; it’s a go-cart with fenders.

That occasionally happens from time to time. I’ve gotten it off and on in recent months and years. Just try again, later.

And tiny 12” wheels!

Pretty much.

If only the brand name were descriptive of the vehicle!

On the drive home (no photos) I got passed by a bright green Lamborghini Aventador. As he pulled away I was serenaded by the throaty growl and exhaust pops of the V-12.

While down in FL for my dad’s 100th birthday celebration I spotted this swamp buggy thing near our AirBnB.

That beastie has Everglades written all over it!

I keep forgetting to mention it in this thread – last week I saw some kind of pickup I didn’t recognize. I only saw it from the rear, so I only saw the bed and back of the cab. It looked tall and narrow as pickups go, and very boxy. Kind of like a Jeep Gladiator, except the taillights were wrong, namely the taillights were round, not the kind Jeep uses. Based on the fact that I didn’t recognize it, I’m speculating it was something not very common in the US. Maybe a Land Rover, given that it looked sort of Jeep-like, but not quite? Or maybe just something mundane with a custom built bed.

ETA: Looking at some pictures of old Land Rovers, I saw some that looked sort of similar but not quite like what I saw, but I assume different years had different configurations. Then I saw this, which does look pretty much like what I saw. So I’m going with Land Rover:

Perhaps an Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster?

Possibly, although I recall seeing two solid red round taillights, not the ones with the white centers like in that picture, which I feel makes an old Land Rover the more likely possibility. The truck I saw was shiny and black, but it could have been restored.
