Not today, but when I was in Three Rivers CA a week ago I saw a nice '55 Bel Air.
I happen to know there’s a Muntz Jet in a garage just down the street at Pat’s Petrol, but he wasn’t around that day for a photo op.

It was parked so I didn’t hear the exhaust note. Hopefully I will!
I am so looking forward to visiting La Terra di Motori, Emilia Romagna (http://www.motorvalley.it/) this summer when I’m there on vacation. Specifically Maranello, Modena, and Sant’Agata Bolognese. I hope to drive one of those Italian beauties! My wallet is humble so our rental while we’re there is an Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the humble one, not even the Giulia. We’ll carve some Italian and Swiss Alps passes!
And do you guys remember the first rule of Italian driving?

And speaking of sexy Italian cars, there’s always the Fiat 500 Abarth:
I’ll be watching for those too. ![]()
We’re planning a trip to Italy as well. I’ve already told my wife that we’ll be renting an Alfa Romeo. She just rolled her eyes.
Hand to god… I knew the answer immediately. Didn’t even need to click on the link. ![]()
Cute little things. Lot’s of them in this neck of the woods. My neighbor had one. I liked the exhaust note. No doubt a fun little car for a fast blast down winding country roads.
I’m married to a car nut, or at least she’s a car fan. No rolling of eyes, there!
Cool. A great movie.
You didn’t even click on the link, did you? Tsk tsk. Two words for you: Catrinel, and Menghia. You should check it out.
Didn’t last time but did just now. Seen it. Very good. Not sure the car lives up to the ad. I mean, it’s still a Fiat. ![]()
I was talking about the girl, Catrinel Menghia. Oh… never mind (sigh).
No, I got it. Beautiful girl. Shame she can’t afford clothes. (NSFW).
Nice pics. My brain interpreted NSFW as click here now! ![]()
She is one beautiful lady. I really like the Fiat 500 Abarth commercial she is in because it is tastefully done and not overly risqué. Not like the Go Daddy commercials from a few years back.
Yeah, funny ha ha, got it. But my first car was a Fiat, a 1979 X1/9, and as long as it’s maintained regularly it was a great car. I bought it new and put 90,000 on it before selling it. During those 90,000 miles (1980-1985) it was rock solid. I only had the starter go out, a little early at around 35,000, but other than that it was a great car.
I hear ya. For all the smack talk you hear about VW’s, I’ve been a fan for years. Especially of the GTI. I’ve got a 2000 Jetta GLX that I drove brand new out of the dealership. It’s got the VR6 engine, manual, leather, roof, sport suspension, etc… full factory kit. Just ticked over 130,000 miles. Still original everything including clutch and exhaust. Well, I replaced the water pump years ago still under warranty. Everything else is just ordinary maintenance and wear and tear you’d expect on a car with that kind of mileage and age. Still runs beautifully.
My other car is a MB c-class AMG. More car than any sane person needs. But I still don’t want to part with the VW.
The last of an era… an early 90’s Buick Roadmaster full sized Station Wagon, complete with the wood look panels on the sides.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!!!
Spot one now and we’ll throw in another early 90’s Roadmaster, this one red with flames!
Act now and we’ll throw in the jumper cables the red one was using to jump the wood panel one.
I was going to chat with them, but by the time I found a parking space and walked over they were gone.
Interesting. My wife drives a 2001 Jetta VR6 with 5-MT. All original, still running great. That is one fun engine and drive train.
And me, always looking for her next car, recently looked at the C43 AMG as a possible replacement for that Jetta. A sweet car. We’re not in the market, not for a while, but I am always looking…
And years ago I was in England for work. I upgraded my car rental to a VW GTD, the diesel version of the GTI. FUN car!
Out driving last night and came up on a hatchback with a weird symbol on the back and the word “Dinan” on the hatch. As I went past, I saw that it was a BMW. Closest I can come to identifying it is a 125M Sport that must have some aftermarket muscle parts.
Yeah, Dinan is a popular tuner for BMW’s.
A couple of weeks ago, I saw a Trans-Am with Historic Vehicle Plates.
Our first truly warm spring day today in the Twin Cities. The motorcycles were out in force everywhere I went. Lot’s of old and new muscle cars making a big appearance too, but some of those have been out for a few weeks.
They’re in the same city as Google, Mountain View CA.
Wow, ONT changes license plates frequently. From 1911 to 1972 they had a new plate design almost annually.
In the last few years in Ontario, a lot of folks have had to replace their plates due to the paint bubbling and peeling. If a defective plate is less than five years old, it is replaced for free.
I see. In the US, I don’t think that’s (much of) a problem. At least not in California, it’s not a problem. Plates seem to last forever. Even up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where winters can be fierce.
Last week I saw a new(ish) VW Beetle with an old personalized license plate, R U D2. I’m guessing he’s a STAR WARS fan who would’ve wanted R2 D2, but it was taken. Anyway that plate was about 40 years old, the old style yellow on blue California plates, and although it was a little faded it otherwise looked okay.
Saw a Ford Econoline pickup truck.
I had no idea this thing existed.
Paint was badly faded compared to the photo and the rear view mirror was mounted at the top of the driver side wing window.
The Maseratis are coming out to play now that the salt is off the roads. I saw two Ghiblis yesterday.
