What's the most interesting car you saw today?

A 1950’s pickup, I think it was a Ford but I didn’t get a good look at it. Looks like it was being restored and they still had quite a bit of work left to do.

A '38 LaSalle sedan, similar to this one.

In my rear view mirror, a Morgan.

Tried to slow down to let him pass for a better look but he turned off behind me.

“Gee, our old LaSalle ran great…those were the days!”-Archie and Edith Bunker

I was telling my wife about how much I liked the look of the Giulia and how I was looking forward to a test drive. And she was all like, “You mean this Giulia?”

:smack:

At least it’s red. Hey, one is built it Italy, and the other built in Australia. But neither are built in Affalterbach.

In fairness to my wife, she understands the difference. This is just how she amuses herself when it comes to my car obsession.

First rule of heist club?..

Exactly.

Today, a mid- to late-1970s Fiat 124 Spider. Running well, and clean.

Under the no publicity is bad publicity rule it’s in the corner spot of a used car lot if you’re really interested.

I saw two wildly painted (black and white spots, no badges) cars go by when on vacation in Utah last week. Then I noticed they had Michigan plates and assumed they were test vehicles from one of the big 3. If I had to guess, they were Dodge Dart replacements.

A pretty wild camo job, there. I’m guessing that’s a gang banger’s car.

Minor nitpick. It’s a W12 engine, actually.

I saw one of these on the road the other day and it is a very nice looking car indeed. What was funny was, at one intersection, we had a Jaguar XE, a BMW 3 series, an Audi A4 and the Alfa. I was looking around for a tame racing driver to see if this was some kind of Top Gear challenge.

Out front of a thoroughly disreputable place that has a load of junk cars for sale, I saw a Lamborghini Espada sitting front and center.

A Lamborghini Espada. One of about 1200 ever made.

It had a windshield sticker saying “Lamborghini” across the top, another just like it across the back, and an enormous hood scoop like something you’d see on a Pro Stock drag racer, not to mention what looks like a decent amount of rust on the roof, but it’s a Lamborghini Espada.

I bet they want at least $50,000 for it. A mint one goes for six figures and up. I might stop and ask one of these days just to date my curiosity.

A Maserati Levante SUV. Meh, not that good looking, IMO.

Saw a Merkur XR4Ti this evening. Pretty sure that’s what it was. It was just past dusk so I was a bit blinded by the lights, but the shape of those headlights is unmistakable, and from behind it I could see the distinctive rear wing.

There was a Maserati Ghibli in the parking lot at Vons this morning, and on the way home i saw a white Lamborghini Huracan Spyder parked on the street, outside the local cafe. Pretty unusual car in our neighborhood.

I was a total Lamborghini freak as a teenager. The Countach was the ultimate in badass looks and wild performance. But the modern Lamborghinis leave me kind of cold. I’m sure they’re amazing to drive, especially if you have the skill to handle them at the limit, but there’s something about them that i just find uninteresting. This is especially the case with the Aventador.

The wedgy body shape of the Lambos is not very interesting to me. It’s far inferior to the lovely curves of the Ferrari 458 and 488, and in some ways i also prefer the much more conservative body shape of the 911 Turbo. Inside, the Lamborghinis are too full of garish controls and electronic instruments. Ferrari have gone a bit in that direction, too, although not as far. I much prefer the view from the driver’s seat of the 911.

Today, an AMC Gremlin! Haven’t seen one in years. And, were their C pillars really that big? What a blind spot they create. Yes they were: (images) https://www.google.com/search?q=amc+gremlin&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=isvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiGsvjC9c3TAhUC0oMKHamOAHgQ_AUICSgB&biw=768&bih=928

After seeing the Gremlin I thought wow, next thing you know I will see an AMC Pacer! Haven’t seen one of those in years, either. Well I did not see a Pacer, but I did see an AMC Javelin today. Another rare sighting.

And then I saw a 1965 Chevy Corvair convertible, in a red/maroon. I spoke with the driver and she said it’s been in the family since 1970. Very cool, sleek looking.

The day started early when I saw an original Mini Cooper driven fast in the mountain twisties, carving up the curves like it’s supposed to.

A good car day, today.

I saw a few oldies today but the best was a '65 Pontiac, gold in colour, and I’m pretty sure a two door. That would make it a Strato Chief and apart from colour, the twin of my lamented Betsy. She was in the family from '67 - '96, when some jerk with a tow truck swiped her out of the backyard.

'68 Chevy Camero in light green, with 350 badges. Well restored and parked in the front of a restaurant by the valet.
