What's the most interesting car you saw today?

I just spent a few weeks in San Francisco, and i lost count of the number of Teslas i saw. They’re all over the place up there. Seems to be the new luxury ride of choice for the wealthy techies and wealthy liberals that are so prevalent in the Bay Area.

On the last day, on the way to the airport, got passed on the freeway by a Gallardo convertible.

On my run yesterday someone passed by in an original Mini - I’m always amazed how small the are compared to the modern ones.

The Smart 1 airplane I saw on TV today

On yesterday’s commute home there was an early to mid-50’s GM pickup, in bright red. It was well restored and looked great.

1948 Ford Tractor. Brush hogging our horse pastures. It’s ten years older than I am and runs twice as good.

Absolutely nothing.

Thanks to all the brine and salt they use on the roads around here, the average car is probably little more than five years old, so there’s an awful lot of boring sameness. You could stand on a corner and quickly run out of numbers to count all of the entry-level Camaros and Mustangs, and the generic Camrys, Civics, Fusions, etc. The weird thing is that there are very few rattling rustbuckets on the roads, so I’m not sure where they go. I do know that our insurance rates are high as drivers in the Carolinas are some of the worst in the country, so perhaps people are just smashing them up before they have a chance to rust.

A couple of months ago, I was in San Francisco on business, and remembered one of the things I liked about California - car bodies are almost eternal there, so there was no shortage of old Volvos, Beetles, Metropolitans, etc.

Neighbors just bought an old Saab Sonnet to restore. I am jealous.

A Shelby Cobra at the local Ford dealer. I was surprised that the tag on it was only $70K.

Yesterday, I saw a six-door Cadillac sedan.

Came out to my bike and a weird-looking Humvee like vehicle was parked next to me. Turns out it was a Wrangler JK, which I’ve never seen or heard of.

Didn’t even know these existed! Very neat little cars; it really is a shame Saab is no more, I always did like them.

On Wednesday, a Volvo P1800ES.

I saw a Gregg’s van today.

Then a Warburton’s van shortly after.

Although yesterday I did see a Jaguar E-type.

It was the Gregg’s van.

On the drive north on Saturday I was passed (rather quickly) by a canary yellow Dodge Viper. I’d forgotten just how low to the ground they are.

I see a '72 “e” model almost every day. Parked right in front of a '71 BMW 2002. Kinda next to a '69 Torino GT. Nearby is a '73 Jeep Commando.

Do you live in PSXer’s neighborhood?

BMW Z8 Alpina…

A Merc S-class with Hawaii license plates, here in suburban Boston. Saw an Alaska plate on the drive in this morning but Hawaii plates are much rarer.

A mustard colored vintage Volkswagen Bug convertible with the vanity plate SPIRIT.

Mr Magnet got to play around in a 1981-vintage Delorean on Saturday afternoon.
