What's the most times you've seen your favorite band/artist in concert?

(ETA: I don’t hate you for Randall’s Island, though. I hear that was a mess.)

My freshman year in college, Zep was planning a tour. One of the shows was scheduled for Chicago. There were several people on my floor in the dorm from Chicago, and we were planning this big concert road trip, arranged for friends & family back home to get us tickets, it was going to be awesome.

The day tickets were supposed to go on sale, I woke up and was headed for the showers when a friend of mine stopped me in the hallway. “Hey, did you hear? John Bonham died last night.”

I’ve seen Motorhead at least 10 times, a couple of times on the same tour. Once was in a dive in Baltimore, with about 100 people there, if that. The next time it was in Virginia and there were a lot more people, including some from the same show.

I’m about to see Iron Maiden for the 6/7 time in a few weeks. I’ve seen them with and without Bruce.

Buffett around 10 times.

I’ve seen Dylan four times.

Some of you people are crazy.

If you’re in the 50s…how did you do it? Multiple times in the same tour? Or did you just see them for 50 straight years?

I saw Bob Mould 23 or 24 times, I lost count. Yes, I would go to every show he had that was anywhere near me, for about two decades (I’m 43). I’ve actually missed the last few. It’s an advantage of being in big cities close-ish to his home base, and he (usually) doesn’t do big productions.

As he’s gotten older, so has his audience. Nowadays I see children bringing their parents to the show.

Ha! This was my answer. I’ve seen Richard Thompson at least 40 times, often flying a couple thousand miles to see a show. One of the great things about RT is that he tours and performs as a solo artist, as a duo (with Danny Thompson a few years ago), as a member of an electric band (Pete Zorn was so great!), and as an opening act for people like EmmyLou Harris. He never fails to put on a great show.

In second place would be Cheap Trick. They are like the Dead in many respects…always playing somewhere. I lived in Chicago when they first became popular (they are from Rockford, IL) and saw them at local venues at least half a dozen times. They now come to my area at least three times a year and I take every opportunity to see them. They really are the “best f***** rock and roll band in the world.”

I’ve been to some good jazz shows, but I only saw Miles Davis once, the year he died. Glad I made that one.

Bob Dylan- More than 10 times, less than 15, including JazzFest, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia shows.

Bonnie Raitt- also more than 10 times, including a show at Pittsburgh’s Graffiti.

Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets featuring Sam Myers- Nine times, would have been more if Sam hadn’t died.

I see Amon Amarth every year 5 years running… and every single year i come home from the mosh pit as an old guy with an injury (broken finger this year… just last week in fact).

Each year i say no mosh pit this time… maybe next year

How are they live? I know it’s kind of a dumb question to ask since you see them all the damn time, but I do enjoy them a lot. I doubt I would seek one of their concerts out, but if I saw them on the list I would definitely be excited.

They are amazing… i am albeit biased but this year we took a shuttle with 12 family and friends, only two of which like that style of music. Each and every one of them said the same thing, their sound is amazing, the stage presence is off the charts and Johann Hegg (lead singer) really puts on a show and connects with people.

My favorite BOC story: Sitting in the E-Club at Amphib Base Coronado, waiting for BOC to take the stage (small club tour), the opening act is doing a pretty credible set, but I’m a corner, waiting my time. To my left and behind me there’s a raised, roped off side area, and I’m chatting with this guy seated back in there, kinda behind me a bit - just kinda idly shooting the breeze over my shoulder, talking about life an’ shit, but mostly watching the sage.

The first set wraps, and this guy says “Gotta Go - this is my set.” I whip my head around, and realize I was shooting the shit with Buck Dharma.***** :smack:
*****He’s **not **tall. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve seen Rush, ZZ Top and Yes probably 6 times each.

If we’re counting jazz, I got to hear Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evans, Sonny Stitt, Chet Baker, Art Farmer, Stan Getz several times here in New York before they passed. And the Gil Evans Orchestra with Gil Evans MANY times, at Sweet Basil on Seventh Avenue South and Bleecker.

I had the same pleasure with Ray Charles.

Same here. Also saw Art Blakey (in a much more intimate setting), around the same time (1990-ish), again not long before he died.

My favorite artist - Pink Floyd - I’ve never seen, and would have only appreciated in their last “big” tour in which they played a lot of their old hits: as a matter of fact, when I heard that they did play them, I knew it was their “farewell” tour, but at the time I would have had to arrange transportation and had not been to very many concerts.

My favorite concert artist, Dashboard Confessional, I’ve been to around 20 times if you include Chris Carrabba solo and with Further Seems Forever and Twin Forks. He’s the only act in my top 30 whose concert repertoire closely coincides with my favorites, which is why I keep coming back.

I’ve seen Rush twice. The Snakes and Arrows show was pretty good, but the Clockwork Angels show shifted the planet’s orbit. Holy Moly.
