What's the name for this clip/fastener?

In another thread someone linked to this pic:

I noticed that plastic clip on the strap along the jaw, they’re common on bags and backpacks and you just squeeze it to release, and push it in and it snaps to fasten.
Is there a term for this type of fastener?

I’ve always just called them Delrin Clips. Although, technically, delrin is the name of the plastic material that the clips are made of.

Maybe Side Release Buckle is a better name.

I have always called them Fastex buckles.

First saw them on outdoor equipment, but have seen them on much older military equipment, so always assumed thats who they were developed for. A google of Fastex confirms them as a supplier to militaries, but does not make claims of origin.

I’ve always known them as Fastex buckles as well, and have had no problem in ordering them under that name.

Looks like Illinois Tool Works has done some re-organizing and the buckles are now produced under their Nexusbrand.
