I saw an episode of Deep Space Nine, but I missed the title. It invovled Worf comming to Deep Space Nine to deal with a bunch of Klingons that were taking shore leave on the station. It was the first of a two parter, and I think the pre-title sequence involved the crew members training to catch shapeshifters using Odo as the shapeshifter. What was this called?
That was Friday night. I think it was something like “Matters of Honor”, but that’s just from memory.
Actually, it’s “The Way of the Warrior,” the premiere for season four.
Thanks.
By the way, there was another episode that night whose title I forgot. It was about Quark finding a box with 8 Bajoran names, and getting almost assinated. What was that one called?
That one’s “Necessary Evil”.
Just went back and watched “Way of the Warrior” for the hell of it. Lots of great moments in that ep. Worf beating up Martok’s son, the station’s “upgrades,” and Quark and Garak’s little “root beer” conversation…
That was the federation = rootbeer episode? I loved that, it was the second best moment in that series.
While we’re on the topic, I recall my favorite episode from DS9, but am clueless as to the title. It’s the convincing the romulans to join the dominion war episode, done as a captains log, and deleted at the end. Totally machiavellian. any help?
coffeecam – That would be *In the Pale Moonlight*. Among the best of Trek.
And just for you:
many thanks BH. I saw that for the first time the first day of a class on international relations. that was a great one.
off to drink some… root beer?
The Way of the Warrior … that’s it … “Matter of Honor” is a Babylon 5 episode … sorry.
‘It’s a fake!’
‘I call that bargain.’
I can’t recall the title either, but we recently had a thread devoted to it.
OTTOMH, my favorite is the Gul Darheel, Butcher Of Someplace episode.
The other episode to which you’re referring is called “Duet”. 19th episode in the first season, which is really impressive. TNG’s 19th episode was “Coming of Age” and Voyager’s was “Twisted”, both of which I found fairly subpar.
“Duet” featured Amin Maritza, a Cardassian filing clerk who was so wracked with guilt after the occupation that he had himself surgically altered to resemble Gul Darhe’el, the Butcher of Gallitep. Maritza was trying to stand in for the Gul so Bajor could have the closure that a full war-crimes trial would bring. Major Kira realized that not all Cardassians were equally responsible for the occupation, and she really showed some growth in the episode.
Best part came at the very end:
The plot and dialogue I remembered, just not the title. I didn’t post more details in case anybody reading the thread hasn’t seen it. Now that that ship has sailed-
IIRC Mariza wasn’t doing it for Bajor, but for Kardassia. He felt that the Kardassians had to be made to face what they had done. He also did it out of his own guilt- ‘I am not Marizza! Weak, cowardly Marizza who used to hide under his bed and cover his ears so that he wouldn’t hear the screams.’
I didn’t even think about spoiling it. Oops. :o You’re righter than I am too. I also remember his impassioned speech about every Cardassian being responsible, and how Cardassia had to be made to face what it had done. All around great episode.
