I remember reading a funny book about a sheepish guy who runs over some animal, but the animal turns out to be a God of some sort who shapeshifted into the animal with the help of maybe a ring or a helmet? and he was going to die so he gave the ring and helmet to the guy who then used them for his benefit to become rich and what have you… anyone have ANY idea the name of the book?

Glad I could help. I quite like Tom Holt, even if he’s not quite in the Pratchett league, he’s reasonably witty and turns genre conventions on their head in a nice po-mo way. I especially like “Open Sesame”
