Whats the price of gas in your state.

In both Northern WV and Southwestern PA the average price for 87 is around $2.12 or so…why I felt the need to buy a Jeep Cherokee is now beyond me

(I’m also surprised at the super-high octane in Europe…the HIGHEST test here in the US is 94, and that’s Sunoco-only…most super gas is 93)

I guess as a semi-hijack (or an addition to the question), how much is the premium for stepping up to the next fuel grade? Here it’s almost always a dime from 87 - 89 and another dime from 89 - 93.

In central Ohio: I don’t come in contact with gas stations very often, but the last one I saw was Sunday for $2.10 per gallon of the regular stuff. However, the prices here go through weekly cylces; they tend to go up significantly on Thursday (occasionally Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday) then gradually fall before rising again the next week.

I paid $2.09/gallon yesterday (Knoxville, TN).

answering my own hi-jack:
octane actually isn’t much higher in europe. it’s because we use the RON and you use RON+MON/2.

under heading “Octane Rating”

I filled up my bike yesterday with unleaded 95 octane at a price of 8.95 DKK per liter.

That should make something like $5.9 per US gallon.

I think the US uses a different measurement for octane, the lowest I can buy at a normal pump is 92.

At the gas station right down the street, it’s $2.13/gallon for the cheap, and 7 cents higher for each grade after that.

We’re down to $1.96 per gallon of low octane (86 or 87) gas at my local UDF today. (United Dairy Farmers is a gas station/convenience store chain that serves its own brand of ice cream) Yesterday the stuff cost $1.98/gal.

I’ve noticed those cycles, too, PigBoy. But in recent months, the price of gasoline has been much less predictable than usual. And, out where I am, the upswing in prices is almost always on a Friday. Wednesday is the day when gas prices are cheapest, so, if I need gas, I try to fill my tank on Wednesdays.

I’ve got almost a full tank as it is, but I might top it off today. I haven’t seen prices as low as $1.96/gal for months and months, now.

Filled up this morning in Houston, TX for $2.01 a gallon.

$2.67/$2.79/$2.91 this morning at the Shell on the corner on my way to work. That’s about mid-range for Silicon Valley, since it can go over $3/gallon for premium in the more exclusive areas, like Woodside.

Yesterday it was approx. $2.17 here in Southeast Kansas.

Two weeks ago I paid $2.89 (!!!) for 87 unleaded. This was just outside Grand Canyon National Park, and there was no competition, though.

Here in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico I just paid $2.16 per gallon. Glad I just figured that out; I had no idea that it was such a bargain here, considering all of the gasoline is reimported from the United States.

Roughly $2.29 to $2.45 for 87 octane within Washington, DC. The further from the tourist places you go, the lower the price.

In downstate Illinois, where I am, it’s $2.05 per gallon.

http://gasbuddy.com is your friend.

From memory, cheap stuff is $2.60-$3.10 a gallon, expensive stuff is probably about $3.80-$4.

$2.199 in Virginia
$2.159 in Maryland
$2.399 in DC

Well it took me nearly 24 hours to post in my own thread.

87 octane $2.09
89 octane $1.99 yes the state of Iowa knocks the tax off gasahol
92 octane $2.23

I was really wanting information on the price difference of the 3 different octane fuels for a thread up in GQ but the thread seems to be dying so thanks everyone.

It was really interesting to see the price of fuel in the different countries.

New York, Manhattan (yes, there’s like five gas stations left down there), as of Sunday: $2.35-2.65, the first for regular, the last for high test, with unleaded in between (I don’t know from gas, I just get the cheapest, and so would you if you saw the car).

New York, da Bronx: $2.30-2.55

New York, Upstate (mid-Hudson Valley): $2.15-2.45

Subject to change without notice. Taxed pretty highly and you don’t want to know about how much it costs to take the Thruway or cross the Hudson River bridges. Take the subway or the bus, Mr. Millionaire.

At my local gas station, premium is, IIRC, $2.89 a gallon, and diesel is $3.09.

Drive a few miles, though, and you can get it for about twenty cents cheaper.

The WaWa up the street from my house in Yorktown, VA sold me some 87 octane go-juice for $2.01 yesterday.
