Whats the price of gas in your state.

I hate to start a thread in this way but I’ll guarantee there isn’t a human being within 500 yards of a gas pump right now that could give me the current price of gas within 30 miles of here.

I would like to know the current prices of gasoline, regular, gasohol and premium where you live.

Since its 1:00 AM here in Iowa USA peoples all over the world please feel free to chime in.
Also please include the octane rating of your fuel if you please.
Thanks

Okay, I’ll set the bar high with HK pump prices (for regular gasoline):

US$1.62 a litre (or)
US$7.37 a gallon

US $2.45 a gallon, for 87 octane at the Arco. And now I’m thankful that I don’t live in Hong Kong

Petrol’s about AUD$1.10 per litre at the moment I think.

Tell you what, life’s tough here - with 16.5% (I think) tax (well, less, after all the allowances have been factored in), live-in help for 470 bucks a month, and generous salaries for almost anyone who speaks English as their first language, has half a brain and a bit of get-up-and-go.

Plus you can take a bus from one end of Hong Kong Island to the other (roughly 10 miles), and it’ll only set you back 80 cents (for a 50 minute ride). And the buses run on time too - generally speaking. Metro the same journey will cost you 90 cents (and take half the time). If you’re feeling nostalgic, or don’t like air-con, or have got a lot of time on your hands (an hour and twenty minutes), you can take the tram, which will relieve you of a quarter.

That’s around 75 US cents a litre, or US$3.40 a gallon.

Holy shit, $7.37 a gallon? And I thought $2.65 a gallon for regular gas here was expensive. But then again, when everything is so close together and you have a viable public transporation network, driving isn’t absolutely necessary.

Hey I know that language! Natively, even! So what’s the weather like?

Last I worked it out, it was running about US$6 a (US) gallon in the Oslo area, for regular unleaded gas at a cheap station. Diesel is a bit cheaper, but not much.

Regular unleaded fuel in Norway is 95 octane.

Weather’s okay. It’s the moral pollution that rolls in relentlessly from the mainland that you have to get used to, or better still not get used to. The Chinese don’t have a saying “Look at a deer and call it a horse” for nothing.

it’s €1 a litre here at the moment (Ireland). at current exchange rates, that’s about $4.90 per US gallon at current exchange rates.
Roger seems to be using the imperial gallon as opposed to the US unit. 1 imp gal = 1.2 US gal. By my calculations (@ $1.62 per litre) that makes petrol a mere $6.14 a US gallon…

oh, the standard octane rating here is 95. not sure why it is so much higher than the states… maybe because european cars have smaller engines and need to run higher compression ratios to achieve the necessary power? anyone any ideas on that one…?

One other thing, because taxes make up most of the price of petrol over here and because the dollar has slumped in the last couple of years and oil is priced in dollars, we haven’t seen that large an increase at the price at the pump. It’s gone from maybe €0.80 to €1.
Significant, but it’s not really a topic of complaint…

I tried to stop complaining so much about gas prices here when I found out what they are in other countries. Right now in South Africa, I believe it’s somewhere around US$4.50 a gallon. Haven’t figured out how anyone but the rich can afford to drive.

Doesn’t mean I’m thrilled to pay my $2.53 though.

This is not a matter of opinion, but it is a sort of survey, so I"ll move this thread to the IMHO forum.

Here in Southeast Texas I’m paying $1.99 for 87 octane. Premium is $2.23. The Wal-Mart, Kroger’s and Randall’s stations are running at around 2.06 but offer a .03 discount for using their cards. {BTW, where is the %^@%# cent sign on a modern keyboard? I want the cent sign back!}

I’ve seen prices on the island (Galveston) set at $2.27. I call these “tourist prices” because the stations along Harborside Drive are the only ones the tourists see as they head for the cruise ships. If they’d go down Broadway they could get gas at $2.03. Aaah, capitalism.

It is going to vary tremendously even within states. In NoVA, gas is running about $2.35 per gallon, but here in Richmond you can get it for $2.05.

Baltimore, Maryland: $2.06 in my area, but in other areas of the city I’ve seen $2.35.

Around Minneapolis for regular yesterday $1.93

Depending on the part of town, the day of the week, and maybe the temperature, or how many clouds are in the sky, or the alignment of the stars or something, it runs from $2.17 to $2.38 a gallon. We can’t figure out the reasons why it’ll be different at every station you see.

In Atlanta we are hovering between $2.03 at the Racetrac, $2.04 at the QuikTrip (best gas station evah!) and up to $2.20 or so at some of the Chevrons and whatnot close to more “convenient” locations. That’s 87 octane. Diesel is generally a few cents above that here.

Here in metropolitan Atlanta, a gallon of regular goes from $1.91 to $2.29.
