Got home today, and the number 222-222-2222 was on my caller ID. How would this be an incoming call to my line?
I Googled the number with no results, closest I could find was XXX-222-2222 is an ANI…evidently a number to call to get your own number or some such, but not for my area code.
Anyhow, no great mystery AFAIK, just something to chew on for you guys.
There is a law firm in Southern California that advertises for the hispanic market (The ads are in Spanish OK?) Anyway the phone number is XXX-222-2222. XXX being the area code is here in Southern Cal, I don’t recall which probably 310, 818, 213, 626.
Just for giggles have you dialed the number?
No, I’m not going to call it. I’m not even sure where the 222 area code is…it doesn’t show up on any of my searches or in the phone book.
Just kinda weird, I get numbers all the time I don’t know where they came from and I just delete them. This one just stuck out as strange. It might have been a phone company test for all I know.
I’ve had that number show up on my caller ID. I’ve also had 111-111-1111. I’m pretty sure it was my call intercept service.
222 is a non-existent area code (I can’t link directly to the result, but you can go to NANPA and do a search yourself – these are the people responsible for assigning North American area codes, so you’re getting it from the source). In other words, a bogus number.
I don’t know how Caller ID works, so I have no idea how that number showed up on your machine.
