What's unmissable in Cincy 8-30,31?

Mrs. Nott and I are going to be in Cincy this weekend for a couple of baseball games. Is there some local event that we SHOULD NOT MISS while we’re there? Ethnic food fests? Blues bands? Bluegrass pickers? Mime jugglers?

Not so much of an event, but rather a place. If you have time, you might consider a visit to the Cinci Zoo. I recently took my 10-year-old son and we had a wonderful time. Admission costs are very reasonable; the zoo is clean and the animals look content.

Make sure to see the White Lion exhibit (my favorite) and the Insect House (my son’s favorite).

You may want to plan some time around this if you go. We arrived at noon, and left at closing time (6 p.m.) without seeing every single exhibit (I skipped the reptiles :)).

For food you may want to check out The Montgomery Inn Boathouse since you’ll be down on the river. Across the River is the Newport Aquarium, while not an event is pretty nice nonetheless. g

Oh and if you’ve never had it, try Skyline Chili. Get a 3 way to start with. Yum. g

oops, forgot this

You can go to www.citybeat.com for great indie stuff to do. Also, Eden Park, the Krohn Conservatory (you just missed the butterfly show) and Cincinnati Art Museum (now free to the public) are all in one spot. Nice to grab a sandwich from Izzy’s downtown and sit on the Fountain and people watch as well.

Have fun this weekend!
