During the Republican primary across 2015-16 she was very scathing of Trump. She appeared on CNN and the videos are up for anyone to see.
My guess is she is critical of him in private to some degree. I suspect George Conway speaks the way he does having heard stories. Maybe she has salacious stories about him that can’t ever get out while in office and he knows that she knows so he can’t fire her.
