By no means could I be described as a reg. or a known poster but I’ve never had any problems on this board and have come to think of it as a integral part of my winding down after a day at work ( or something to do at work )
Pizzle Boy look at it this way .
First of all I will assume your a new and not a reincarnated poster .
If you walked into a bar or a club (or school/college ) and walked up to a group of people you don’t know but who obviously know each other well would you start slagging off one of them to his/her friends ?. No you wouldn’t , you’d have more sense wouldn’t you?
So why do you do it here ?
Ok, Wally may have been offhand to you but that’s his writing style. If you spend more time on this board you’ll see that he is also a very funny and inteligent man.
So please take some advise stop posting to this thread let it die .
Start or reply to threads that have nothing to do with slagging off other posters and enjoy this place .
Have you no shame?
Here Pizzle let me help you. Step up here… Good. Now put your arms here. Did you bring your hammer? Excellent! Here, I’ll help.
Bang,
I was a little hasty about slashing Wally (is it ok if I call him Wally?) ((I’m assuming it’s a him))
But…isn’t that what the pit’s all about? ::begs forgiveness:: However, I don’t have to put up with slashes either.
No I wouldn’t go around “slagging” a group of people 'cuz I’d get my head kicked in…that’s the beauty of the SDMP, I can behave a little bit against the ‘norm’
Ayesha: I have decided to alter my sig, as it is a little to angry…not because of you, but you might care.
So, then. Why the change of heart? As a ‘newbie’ it would really suck to be branded as a permanent ‘dink’ or ‘troll’ is it? Amazing what one can think about on the drive home from work.
Remember, even Gretzky was a dink when he started in the NHL.
I am puzzled by 2 posts referring to Pizzle Boy’s just registering today; his profile says 5/26.
Pizzle Boy, could you please do me a big personal favor (seriously, no sarcasm) and don’t use so many ellipses. Those are these series of little dots, like this… and this… and this… Normally I don’t ever criticize posters’ spelling and punctuation, but this just happens to be one of my little pet peeves. We used to have somebody not too long ago who did it all the time and you wouldn’t believe the headache it gave me to read his posts. You can just use a comma, okay? Thanks! I hereby give you permission to take a shot at me. Go ahead, call me “four-eyes” or something.
Dimbert: every review I’ve read of Gladiator says it’s, how shall I put this, hardly the cinematic event of the decade. Are you sure?
I was going to wait till it came out on video. Maybe I should go back and find that MPSIMS (?) thread on it.
P.S. Pizzle Boy, you’re not a pariah as long as people are posting to your threads. Get down off the cross, we need the wood.
I saw Gladiator. I thought it was wonderful. You might want to give it a chance in the theater, I don’t know if you would appreciate it the same way if you saw it for the first time on video.
Yeah, this is a great place to express yourself “out of the norm”. But it usually applies to the lively intellectual content, not the general rules of courtesy.
FWIW, I bombed as a newbie; had lurked for ages and felt like I knew people here from reading their posts. And I did. Trouble is, they didn’t know me at all.
SDMB is the farthest thing from a clique, but like anywhere else, it takes a while to get the “feel” of someone and to know them. That isn’t exclusionary or snobbish; it’s just normal.
If it makes ya feel any better, my first post was a content-based, pretty satiric take on C#3 (as he was then) about aliens and paganism–and I promptly got fried. And fairly. It takes a bit to know when someone’s kidding and to get a feel for the person behind the pixels.
The whole thing is complicated right now by an eruption of bored cretins, trolling the board. Stick around, introduce yourself around and you’ll find it’s the coolest place going.
Could it be that we, as non-Canadians, do not understand this subtle interplay between Wally and Pizzle? We should be more understanding of the customs of foreign cultures and not insist that they follow our own customs.
And, for the love of Pete, what is a “sock puppet” and a “troll” and an “Andy Gump?” If anybody starts calling me one of those, I’m damned if I’m going to go along pretending I know what they’re talking about!
An “Andy Gump” is another name for an outdoor toilet. The kind built over a hole in the ground. Perverts have been known to climb into the hole to watch people sitting on the john above them. These perverts are sometimes called ‘dropzones’.
“Sock Puppet” is another screen name created by an existing poster, who’s reasons for doing so may be varied: Maybe we wants another voice to back him up during an argument, maybe he wants another identity to hide behind in order to make fun of someone else… etc.
“Troll” is someone who comes to the board just to make trouble. Perhaps they enjoy the thrill of pissing people off without fear of retaliation. But they don’t want to discuss, they don’t want to trade knowledge… they just wanna piss people off.
I have no idea what “Andy Gump” is, as it pertains to this message board.
Gladiator is not a great cinematic event. It’s slow in spots, the villian’s motivation is anachronistic and the plot contains too many threads… but what it is is a kick-ass summer blockbuster.
If you go in looking for nothing more than eye-candy, you will be satisfied and surprised by the story to boot.
I have to stop doing this, but I want to plug Cervaise’s movie site - it’s awesome and the reviews are spot-on. It is http://moviegeek.homestead.com.
I never said you had peanut butter for brains. I asked you if you did. You never did answer the quesrion, so I’m still wondering.
You opened an American-bashing thread in the pit. If you lurked, like you say you did, you would realize that stupidity of this type infuriates me, so you should not have been surprised at my response, which was quite mild by comparison to others I have written.
Furthermore, where did I say that you are a troll? Or that what you write is trollish? Don’t be a liar. It’s not advisable on this board.
Further, you yourself said this: “Yes i only have a small number of posts, BUT, I’m still entitled to my own opinion on a great many topics.”
Do you think it might be okay if some of us share in your entitlement?
You also said this: “…why would I say something nice about someone when I’m in the damn pit??”
In light of that remark, permit me to say that if you do not want attention drawn to your moronic, imbicilic retarded posts, perhaps you should contemplate writing something coherent. If you can.
I resent the fact that I have to defend myself against an obvious putz such as you, but I have come to realize that people like you interpret silence for victory.
Please forgive the hasty ness of my slash…trying to get a feel. (oops. sorry about the ‘…’ thing. I will try to cut back, as it is a hard habbit to break)
Please…just Pizzle, no need for Mr. I’m not that formal.
Also, in my haste to create a somewhat controvertial(sp?) post I may have overstepped the boundries of good taste.
Sorry. (seriously)
Now, that asside. If I were to merely say: “Thank you Mr. 7 for bringing to my attention the fact that my posts are moronic and stupid”, it would not make for a very interesting post reply.
On the other hand if I said: “Take your f’n reply and shove it where the sun don’t shine”, it may be taken as a little harsh and threatening.
Therefor, I will say: “My controvertial post got the desired affect, as it generated over 30 replies and 400 views in less than 12 hours.”
No I don’t have peanut butter for brains…err, (sorry) for of a wheel on a hamster. Or something like that.
Now in the spirit of the 'Pit: Take 'yer cross, turn that sumbitch sideway and shove it straight…oh, never mind.
