What's your eye color?

Mine are hazel, too. They vary from almost black to rich, emerald green depending on my mood and clothing. Funny enough, both my parent have/had blue eyes – my Dad’s were sky blue with golden flecks and my mother’s are very pale blue. My daughter’s eyes run from almost white/grey to almost sea-green – she got the other end of the spectrum, I guess. Maybe weird eyes run in my family, I have a cousin with yellow eyes – they’d be gorgeous if he weren’t such a total waste of oxygen…

I usually say that my eyes are brown, but looked at more closely, they’re actually a network of little fibres that are green around the middle part of the ring and reddish-brown nearer to the pupil, on a dark background, with an odd slate-grey ring on the outside.

On the subject of eye colour, during the last election, the posters of Bloc leader Gilles Duceppe had the sky photoshopped to be the exact same colour blue as his eyes. I heard from a friend of the guy who did it that that’s what they were aiming for, but frankly it was creepy, as though they had bored holes through his head. Very arresting, but not necessarily in a good way.

Green/Gray/Blue and very light.

Most of the time they’re a light blue-gray, with a dark blue outer rings, and brown starbursts around the pupils like olivesmarch4th and dahfisheroo. But, there’s a varient of blue that acts like hazel, and I inherited it from my grandfather. In the right mood or state of health they wander between light gray, green and turquoise.

I had no idea that they changed color until I was 16 and two people swore my eyes were green at that moment. (we were doing a class activity that divided people by eye color) One of them gave me a mirror because I didn’t believe them - and they were right. It surprised the hell out of me, especially considering I hadn’t been wearing green.

Blue, sometimes blue-green (depending on what I’m wearing). The outer rim is a very dark blue.

My eyes are a bright green with a burst of gold and brown flecks radiating from the iris and a dark blue ring around the outside.

Mr. Geek’s eyes are a light intense blue.

Darkest brown, ringed in black with black flecks.
Think Coca-cola.

Mine are hazel. Like Risha’s, its a little more complicated than that though…

When inside they are a deep green, with a dark brown circle on the outside edge. In the sun they turn gold-green, with a dark green band around the outside. My old glasses hid the color, but my current purple glasses (and stronger perscription, ugh!) emphasize them.

Dark hazelly green with reddish brown towards the middle with some funky lighter flecks in there. Here’s a picture. However, I’m so pale (and I wear glasses) that they usually just seem brown unless you catch me in the sun.

I used to think they were hazel but I’ve been told quite recently that they are, in fact, greenish-blue. Or bluish-green.

Mine are blue.

Really a nice green, but because of my squinty little eyes, most folks don’t see them. I am amazed at the number of green eyed folks here, as they only found in about 2% (as I recall) of humanity.

Of course there was that National Geographic picture with the Afghan woman with green eyes…there are pockets of green eyed folks scattered here and there… and Northwest Europe is a hot spot too, so apparently there are a lot of Afghanis and NW european heritage folks here! http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=8297234#
Wink

Mine are blue. Really blue. I’ve been yelled at by strangers before for “not admitting” I wear color change contacts. Which I don’t.

Mine are brown around the iris, then olive-y green, then a darker green around that.

I always thought green eyes were fairly rare, but there seems to be an awful lot of dopers with them.

Mine don’t match.

left eye

right eye

My eyes are pretty much a solid color, without a lot of specks or streaks. The ring around the edge of the iris is a similar color to the rest, but darker.

I seem to remember my eyes being truly blue, or blue/grey, when I was younger. Now I’m heading more into the cyan family (blue/green) - this Wikipedia link has some color examples. Using some of those RGB color values, I made a little color palette with Photoshop - linky.

Depending on the light and what color I’m wearing, my eyes can be lighter or darker, more blue or more green. I’d say that most of the time my eyes are similar to the two colors on the bottom (Robin Egg/Medium Aquamarine). Sometimes they look more blue like Medium Turquoise. Occasionally they’re a lighter blue, like Aquamarine Blue.

Shit Brown. :frowning:

Mine are blue, but they look green when I wear a green shirt.

Brown - two slightly different shades. I can’t remember which is darker at the moment.

Brown, though not dark brown.
