I like Chunky Chicken Noodle and Progresso’s Italian Wedding Soup.
Progreso also has a Chicken and Herb Dumpling canned soup that’s very tasty and hearty.
Chunky Sirloin Burger
Pozole de pollo w/cabbage
(both with garlic bread on the side)
I’ve never had their soups (didn’t even know they made one), but their tomato products are fanstastic. Their fire-roasted tomatoes are probably my favorite canned tomatoes.
Anyhow, the only canned soups I’ve enjoyed are, oddly enough, the clam chowders, with the Progresso one being my favorite (never had Snow’s, though.) I haven’t tried these new Campbell’s soups ,like the gumbo, so I’ll have to try 'em soon with all the good reviews.
Campbell’s Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder
^ The only canned soup I eat.
DH swears by Chunky Sirloin Burger.
Trick: If you mix two similar soups together (like chicken and noodles + chickarina), the resultant soup tastes better than each soup alone.
This. My favorite.
I also add fresh 'shrooms, and some dill, and sometimes bacon bits. But I mix the “original” with the “low salt,” and the saltiness is just right.
This, and…
This.
I used to like Campbell’s tomato soup until I actually tasted what tomato soup was supposed to taste like.
Soup is the easiest dish in the world. Chop any veggies you like, put in a pot of milk/water/stock, cook til soft, season, eat. For a creamed style soup, use milk as your cooking liquid and blend the veggies (an immersion blender is great for this). Then, in your next pot, experiment with adding pasta for the last 10 min, and some canned tomatoes and Italian herbs. Voila, minestrone. Croutons! Split peas! I made potato soup tonight, and added green onions, sour cream, cheddar and bacon for that loaded baked potato flavour. Delish, and so, so easy.
Please make some soup. Canned soup is sad.
Campbell’s Tomato Soup and Campbell’s Chunky Sirloin Burger are probably my two favorites. However, I really don’t eat canned soup anymore because of the high sodium content.
Ha!~ Thanks for the link. I just discovered there’s an Original Soup Man restaurant right here in Dallas. I’ll have to check this place out.
Does anyone know of Lobster Bisque sold in a can? If so, that’s by default going to be the best damn canned soup you will ever buy.
Then again, the canning process might mess that up.
For me, the only canned soup I eat from the can without doctoring it up is Tomato Soup, and even then I put pepper on it.
I prefer to make my own, and even then, it’s a rarity. I don’t care much for soup.
The brand I mentioned, The Original SoupMan, has a lobster bisque.
This is not helpful. Canned soup may be “sad”, but it’s useful to keep at work for when I don’t want to run out for lunch. Kind of hard to make soup from scratch at my desk.
Amy’s soup. No chicken noodle . Progreso does a good cream of mushroom.
Actually canned soup can be rather tasty. And my favorite just happens to be the loaded potato Campbell’s chunky variety. I love to cook, and especially anything involving cheese and potatoes and bacon, but if you’re looking to eat something from a can there ARE tasty and quite happy alternatives.
One can Campbell’s tomato. One can diced tomatoes. One can milk. Fresh parsley or basil on top. Maybe some parmesan or sour cream.
I do the doctored cream of mushroom thing mentioned upthread too. Cream of chicken with lemon pepper or garam masala is also pretty good.
I make a plethora of homemade soups, but for a quick lunch those do me fine. Or when I’m feeling yucky. Add some buttered toast or a grilled cheese and I’m a happy girl.
45 years going…my favorite.
