Watermelon Jolly Ranchers. Rootbeer barrels. ButterRum LifeSavers. I’d forgotten that Atomic Fireballs even existed. There’s a candy similar to Zotz called Fizz or something. Those are good. Excuse me, I need to go shopping.
Not to worry Le Sang Paresseux Straight Dope’s favorite squid Chief Scott might be able to arm a few for you. You just may not like their final destination.
As for myself, Werthers are nice and I am currently having this fling with Smints but the all time classic is Rountree’s hard candies. These gems are made with actual fruit extracts instead of the nuclear waste they use in Jolly Ranchers. They are quite difficult to locate on this side of the pond. A British food store and someplace in SF’s Chinatown are the only ones who carry them.
I’ve got to go with Werther’s. I like Jolly Ranchers a lot too…but not quite as much.

Cream Savers, Werther’s and Jolly Ranchers.
My husband. Oh shoot, I’m sorry - I just got done reading that freakin’ 8 page thread in GD about Penile Lengthening which got off (ha!) a tangent about circumsision (sp) v. non-circ, so you know where my mind has been focused all afternoon: penises!
Okay, real candy: Werthers, if I had to make a choice. Yummers! I love anything buttery and carmel-y.
Rootbeer Barrels, Atomic Fireballs, and Starlight mints (I could eat those all day long). Altoids too, if those count as “hard candy”, I’m never without a tin.
I tried altoids and liked them but got tired of them in about a week. They didn’t have the staying power of Jolly ranchers. I have had at least one of those every day for the last 5-6 years.
“What’s your favorite hard candy?”
So when’s somebody gonna say “penis”?
Yes, they’re called Fizz. Sold in “strings” - individually wrapped candies, stuck together at the ends of the packages to make a long string of different coloured candies.
Try http://www.wirelesstoo.com - If the Neccos aren’t online, I know they sell them in their catalogue, which you should be able to get a copy of from the site.
Hey, I just checked - the above mentioned web site for Wireless has both Neccos and Atomic Fireballs.
I used to like Jolly Ranchers too. That is, until after a movie, the theater had a bowl of free Starburst Hard Candies. These things are, almost impossibly so, much better than jolly ranchers. Plus, they’re shaped and rounded so as not to cut open the side of your mouth like Jolly ranchers can sometimes do. Buy a bag and try em, they’re fanstastico.
note: What’s so jolly about Jolly Ranchers anyway? And why are they called ranchers? Last time I checked, fruit candies weren’t herding cattle.
Those cinnamon disks. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. . .
Life Savers. Especially 5 flavor and wild cherry flavors.
