Just what the title asks: What’s your favorite non-live, non-compilation Midnight Oil album of all?
10 to 1.
Head Injuries, followed by Diesel & Dust.
But the Oils live beats any of their studio albums.
Blue Sky Mining was the first CD I ever bought. I voted Diesel & Dust though.
Yes.
They, along with Prince, are the best pop/rock group I’ve ever seen in concert.
Best live act I’ve ever seen (strangely, I’ve never seen Prince). I voted Diesel and Dust, which was the first tour I saw them on and holds sentimental value for me (senior year of high school). 10, 9, 8… would be a close second.
That was the tour with Graffiti Man and Yothu Yindi, right? Damn, was that a great show.
It was. I had that tour shirt with Ayers Rock on the front for a good 10 years.
Oils live are a sight to behold, FWI the frontman is now a member of parliament. He has had to tone down his anti-everything rhetoric a bit!
Diesel and Dust is a great set of songs, but 10…1 is a great album–it works as an entire piece.
I miss the more oddball moments that are MIA on Diesel and Dust, frankly.
