What's your favorite non-mainstream candy?

Brach’s Sundaes Neapolitan Coconut.

French burnt pewnuts are my jam. I’ll always associate them with going to the theatres. They’re pricy, though, which is blessing in disguise.

Salt water taffy. I freakin love the stuff. I also don’t see Chunky’s much around here.

Eucalyptus-menthol “Chips,” an Italian-made small candy. They are best when reasonably fresh and have a consistency like hard wax or soft plastic. They tend to be slow sellers, though, and are often pretty hard - not quite hard enough to be a hard candy, more that slightly unpleasant hardness of old jujubes. (I like JuJuBe’s too.)

Now I kind of want to get some horehound drops.

Banana Flips. You know, though… I don’t think I’ve ever seen them anywhere besides my father’s old grocery store. (Long gone.)

Saw a box of them on a counter last Friday while I was picking up milk on my way home from Southern California. All our Dari Mart Stores carry them. (I was wearing my leggings, too. No one here cares.)

Violet Crumble! (Similar to Bit O’ Honey, kinda: crunchy interior, chocolate exterior.)

They pop up here every now and then. Love 'em!

Probably rahat lokum (Turkish Delight). Especially the rosewater-flavored variety. Yuuummmmy!

Mine would probably be Idaho Spuds, which can still be found here now and then, or Chick-O-Sticks, also occasionally available.

Choward’s Violets are definitely my favorite. Hard little pucks of sweet floral refreshment. The gum isn’t as good; it’s a bit more of a soapy taste and wears off too quickly. They’re also my favorite “mints” to “freshen up” before a kiss.

Ice Cubes are definitely another favorite. The odd cooling sensation is so charming.

One house in the neighborhood gave out Zagnut bars on Halloween, and they became my absolute favorite.

Haven’t seen them around in a while, though.

Necco Wafers, especially the chocolate ones. They’re available but kind of hard to find in Minnesota (Casey’s has them).

I was going to say Neccos.

I loved those damn things!

My Dad used to bring us home little tins of French La Vosgienne fruit candies like these.
I would love to see those again.

Chocolate Lace!

I love it, but it’s expensive, so I tried to make my own. It was a dismal failure. :frowning:

Me too. I used to get 'em from the counter at the local Kwik-E-Mart back in the '60s; IIRC they cost two cents.

I remember those too! My grandpa would always have a tin or two of those when we visited him.

These violet mints fascinate me. I must try them. Are they mint-flavored at all, or does “mint” in this case mean “little hard candy?”

My contribution: Sixlets. These are the absolutely shittiest of all the crappy chocolates out there on the market. Seriously, they make Hershey’s seem highfalutin’ by comparison. So why, oh why, do I love them so?
