I voted fig - as a perfectly ripe fig is just eating perfection.
For reliability though it would have to be apple - I’ve enjoyed many less-than-perfect apples but no less-than-perfect raw figs (although baked in a tart with plums and flaked almonds it is hard to beat whatever state it is in).
Thanks for the excellent participation in this preliminary poll!
Either after we hit 100 Voters or in three days (Thursday) – whichever comes first – I will put up a new poll using the fruits that have received at least 10% of the votes here.
That poll will be Public and only your first FIVE votes (multiple choice) will be counted. The options will be in order of the number of votes from this poll. And at the moment that would look like this:
This poll will remain open until 10-24-2014 at 06:57 AM and based on late votes here and the replies in the “Top 5” poll to come we may or may not have one more poll after that.
I like a lot of the choices, but I have to go with mango as my top pick.
When we travel to tropical locations, mango trees seem to be a pest tree, but we always say we’d have one in our yard if we ever get to live in a tropical place.
Here’s perhaps the last posted summary I will be doing before we top 100 at the rate we’re going. Sort of a last chance to kick some of the under-10% ones into the mix.
Wherever we are tomorrow, I’ll put up a new poll to narrow things down even further.
Thanks to all who have joined in on the project these last couple of days!
Hmm. I find peaches to be a pain in the ass, because you obviously have to peel them before eating. I mean, that fuzz! shudder You can’t touch that with the inside of your mouth and live. However, peaches (minus skin) are super tasty and, indeed, the essence of summer. Therefore, I voted nectarines. Similar taste, but can be eaten without peeling. Nothing says summer like hanging over the sink eating a perfectly ripe nectarine with the juice dripping down your arm.
