What's your favorite season?

Duck season.

Fall.

I live in a very hot place (Tucson) and summer is so not fun! It was 107 yesterday, although right now it’s a mild 104. You can’t do much outside because it’s just too fricking hot. It’s hard to drive because your hands burn permanently into the steering wheel, and it often stays over 100 past 10 pm.

That first day when there is a hint of a cool breeze usually happens around late October here and it’s very welcomed after about 6 months of blasting temperatures.

Fall.

Fall. I live in Central Florida, and Fall coming means the hot weather is going to let up for a few months. When I lived in the Northeast, Fall was so beautiful. I also like the anticipation of the holidays–days off, good food.

On the nose. Plus, all the bennies have left, meaning we locals can enjoy the shore for a little while.

Fall.

I love the start of the school year, even when I’m not in school. I love how the weather feels crisp and clean. I love Halloween and Thanksgiving more than any other holiday. I hate the summer so I can’t wait for it to end. I love building a fire in my fireplace. I love being able to wear jeans and a sweater and be comfortable. I love going to Atkins Country Market to pick apples and to build a scarecrow.
I like winter. I like snow and I don’t mind the cold.

Spring is ok. I love all the pretty flowers and the rain but I hate mud and spring leads to summer which sucks balls.

Summer is hot, muggy, buggy, and sunburny.

My favorite season depends on where I am living at the time. When I lived in Seattle, I loved the summer. Now I live in Arizona and summers are the worst here, so now I prefer the winters because of the cooler weather. When I lived in Colorado, I love the beautiful fall colors, and also the winters for snowboarding.

Fall smells the best.

If it’s a warm autumn, I’m all for it. Otherwise, summer. I can tolerate killer heat better than any threat of snow.

I love the Fall season with all of it’s colors. I suspect a feel-good show or movie set in the Fall somewhere in my childhood is responsible.

I’d have to say salt. I’ve tried other seasons, but salt just goes with everything.

Summer.

Fall means impending winter.
Winter is anti-summer and miserable.
Spring is preparation for summer.

Fall. Cool weather, leaves falling and blowing around, high school football, anticipation of the holidays. I grew up with New England falls which were awesome, and now living in the South the fall is a welcome break from the unbearable heat of summertime.

Autumn/Fall by far.

The cool air blows in and takes Satan’s Summer Breath away for some (finally!) blessed relief. The trees turn pretty colors, the air takes on an almost spicy smell to it. Great outdoor weather for camping/hiking/hunting (unless that unexpected cold front rolls in and the temp drops to 30 degrees overnight!).

Picking apples at the orchard, carving pumpkins for Halloween, hayrides and barn dances, Thanksgiving, and XMas (I know winter begins in the 3rd week of Decemer, but for me, it’s not truly winter until after New Year’s and everyone’s back to work), hot apple cider and hot cocoa…

…yep. Fall is the best by far.

Fall – though Summer is a close, close second.

It’s the crisp air and the changing colors that does it for me. Plus, you get baseball playoffs and the start of every other sport I follow, all happening at once. Halloween. Thanksgiving. The simplicity of having neither the AC nor the heat on. The ability to wear just about anything you own (for my wife, this is HUGE – apparently in the fashion world, fall is the undisputed king of seasons. that’s why the September issues of fashion mags are nearly as thick as an old Sears catalog now). The only thing I don’t like about fall is the rash of colds/flu that tends to go around and the switch to Daylight Wasting Time.

Summer has a lot of great things going for it – outdoor grilling! Three holidays! Tons of daylight! It’s socially acceptable to drink lemonade every day! Beaches! Ice cream, ice cream and more ice cream! Girls in sundresses (or less)! But I have never been more miserable due to weather than I was this July, the hottest July in Washington history. Screw that.

Spring = allergies. No.

Winter has Christmas and my birthday - my two favorite days of the year. Other than that I just can’t deal with everything being so cold and dead.

I’m with you, except that I’ll even pick winter over fall. At least the days are starting to get longer again. The shrinking of the days in fall makes it, for me, the most depressing season.

Hard to believe that fall was my favorite season when I was younger.

Hard to say. I like that time in Spring and Fall where I don’t have to turn on the AC or the heater. What can I say - I’m saving up for insulation.

In a less budget-related vein, in California Spring and Fall look a lot more alike than in other places. We get our rain in the Fall and Winter, so Fall is when some of the leaves turn brown and slowly fall off, while the grass on the hills and in the open spaces gets green. And since there isn’t a hard die-back in the Winter, and the rain tapers off Winter, Spring is less bright green. You do get the fruit trees blossoming, but that doesn’t last a whole season.

So I’m voting with my wallet. Spring and Fall.
