What's your favorite The CW (or CWSeed) shows, and are there other platforms like that with no ads?

I’ve been searching around for some good TV shows to watch over the holidays. I stumbled back on The CW. I used to watch The CW show The Hart of Dixie. I didn’t realize that The Gilmore Girls was also a CW show.

Recently, I’m liking Pandora and Forever. I’m just starting to explore the other shows, so I’m hoping there’s more to like. Pandora is a futuristic drama about a girl who had her colony destroyed and is about her saga in finding out what happened to cause it. Forever is about a guy who hasn’t died for 200 years despite having been killed multiple times. It’s a mystery series. He’s a medical examiner who solves cases both with his ability to die and his observations from years of living.

What are your favorite The CW or CWSeed shows? Are there any other online platforms that show free TV shows without ads like this?

If I miss one of the superhero shows for some reason (Arrow, Flash, Batwoman, etc), I’ll catch it on the CW ROKU channel – those have ads though.
The only show I watched was The Veronica Mars spinoff with Dick Casablancas (name escapes me)

Brian

The 100 is pretty good. You gotta get past the first couple episodes though, it goes from standard teen drama in a post apocalyptic setting to a very dark post apocalyptic sci fi show.

Thanks! I’ll check those out. I got another person’s recommendation for Arrow, Flash and The 100, so they were already on my list.

I just watched more of the Pandora series. It’s not showing up on their main website, but a search got me to the right link. I’m guessing that’s a sign that I may not be able to access it soon. Binge-watching might be in my future.

I’ve been a fan of Supernatural from the jump. If you decide it’s your thing, it will give you many, many hours of viewing pleasure, although I confess that when they announced that it was coming to an end after 15 seasons, I was kind of grateful. Oh, and I quite enjoyed iZombie as well.

Supernatural. And…um, just Supernatural, now that iZombie is over. I watch Nancy Drew and Charmed, but “like” is probably too strong a term for my opinion of them. (“Tolerate” describes it better.) Pandora is–well, here is my thread on that, FWIW.

My favorite is Legends of Tomorrow. It leans into its comicbookiness and doesn’t apologize about it. It’s a fun show. Sometimes it feels like the actors are winking and nodding right at the viewer.

You’ll have to pay if you want to watch the old shows without commercials. I think most of the CW shows are on Netflix.

I’m watching Pluto TV. Hundreds of shows streaming in order. The catch is that it’s like broadcast TV: you can pick a show, but it will start where it is in the cycle. It’s better for rewatching, since it’s difficult to binge unless you can watch 24/7.

It also has ads, but not a lot of them and, unlike a lot of sites, they run without buffering, so it’s only a minute or two (and given the format, it allows for breaks).

Shows include classic Doctor Who, Midsomer Murders, and MST3K

Thanks. I checked it out. Looks a little too violent for me. The violence in some of the other shows didn’t bother me, but this one isn’t my taste. CWSeed has the Supernatural: The Anime series. Maybe that will be more my cup of tea.

I just finished Pandora and left a review in the thread you linked. I’m liking Nancy Drew so far. I think I might like Charmed as well, but The CW only has 5 episodes online. It was nice to see the whole Pandora series at one time. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks! That one looks good. It reminds me of Pandora, that I enjoyed. Bummer that it only has 5 episodes, but it looks like they roll, so I’ll have more later, I suppose.

I’ve been looking at Pluto TV, along with Tubi TV and Popcornflix. Thanks for the review. I’ll check it out more, now that I know the commercials aren’t too long. I like Midsomer Murders, so that one might be a good one to start there.

The first two seasons of Legends of Tomorrow were OK, but the show didn’t really find its footing until season 3. And season 4 was a hoot.

(That means good)

Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind. I don’t have NetFlix at the moment, so I only have the 5 episodes on the platform, although all of those are in season 4, so that’s good.

I just started watching Batwoman from the Pilot. I’m only a few episodes in. I’m really liking it. I like how they go back and explain how and why she came into existence.

I’ve also been watching more episodes of Forever. They’re OK. Even if he’s immortal, there’s always a thread of mortality that every episode needs to remind the audience of. It’s not as upbeat as I’d like.
