What's your IQ?

Dunno my IQ, so I’ll just estimate: 'bout a hunnert or so.

But I took a Myers-Briggs personality test earlier today at a career counsellor’s office, and I’m an ENFP. Surprisingly, when I looked that up via Google it seemed to fit me quite well!

Just another idea: why don’t you read another thread if the title doesn’t suit you?

Anyways. My IQ was tested a few times during my life. Most recently during a full psychological analysis for a job, about 6 years ago. IIRC, my score was either 135 or 137.

I have to say something, though. First off, an IQ score is relevant when compared to a group of peers, i.e. American scores cannot automatically be equated with, say, Nigerian scores. Different levels of education, different forms of education, that sort of thing. But from what I understand, IQ scores within a peer group (i.e. usually within a country) follow a typical distribution that’s the same for all IQ test. IIRC, only 2% scores higher than 130 or so, with scores of 190 and some others I’ve seen here being VERY rare outlyers indeed.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not accusing anyone of lying. But either our membership is even more gifted than we thought, or some of those test results can be taken with a small grain of salt. No offense, y’all are beautiful and smart people.

Other than that, this puppy’s off to IMHO.

Well just to second Coldfire’s point about outliers – IQs of 180 and over occur at about one in a million.

Group IQ testing is not good for identifying very high IQs accurately. Online testing is a complete joke – there’s no way the scores are accurate.

I’m also intrigued by just how many people have scores over 160 when we don’t have an IQ test which tests over 160 reliably. The WISC III tops at 160 and is unreliable from 130 - 140 depending on who you believe. The SB IV has a fairly low ceiling as well. The SB LM is 30 years out of date and is the only test with a high ceiling but the scores are not reliable.

The SB 5 is out in April and there’s been rumours about the ceiling on that test. Be interesting to see if they have finally developed a test with a ceiling over 160 for adults and to see how high it goes reliably for kids.

The one official test I took put me in the top five percent, but didn’t disclose the exact score. Internet tests usually put me somewhere between 135 and 155. It’s been a while since I took one though.

135 at age 5. I don’t remember the test.

So that means there are about 6,000 such people alive… and presumably, 30 to 40 percent of them are dopers

I think I actually care more about sheet color. I’m an eclectic decorator, but I do have taste.

I was tested when I was about six to determine whether or not I qualified for the local Gifted/Talented program. No one told me the score–the school psychologist just glanced at the results and said, “He’s in.” I didn’t care, as long as I got to take the GT classes (which were much more interesting than the regular ones).

Yup, dunno on the IQ thing. Took a police officer test a while ago and maxed that out with an equivalent reading comprehension grade of 18.9.

ESTJ in the Meyers-Briggs personality test.

I’ve taken various online tests and they’ve all overestimated my intelligence, considering that 3 digits show up.

I wish they would try to introduce musical creativity in tests. Music just seems to be a more natural indicator of our raw thought processes.

I have no idea what the eact number is, but I an i.q. number that’s considered genius, which means anywhere from 140-2600.
I would be betting on around 456

Apparently very little of my i.q. is wasted on grammar :smack:

Oh, I’m occasionally INTP and occasionally INTJ in MBPT depending on the specific test I’m taking.

they wouldn’t tell my parents.
i was tested at 3, 7, and 14.
i’m in top 0.01 percentile.
Gyan9, i’n an INFP, which makes me one of the rarer personality typs on MBPT.

lucky me.

I tested at 147 when I was 4. It doesn’t mean a great deal to me now.

My IQ is 9.5

But my penis is 157.

question then, isn’t iq supposed to average out at 100… doesn’t seem to be from here, average would seem to be about 130. Don’t have the slightest idea what mine is, but I reckon I’m probably stoopid

Looks like I’m the village idiot.

120

I’ll be over here, drooling in a bucket.

I applied to join Mensa when I was about 14 or so. I passed the initial application test, as was required to take a more comprehensive, supervised exam. My history teacher at the time (god bless him), thought I was a smart kid and volunteered to stay after school and supervise me. Took the test, sent it off. Mensa wrote back to say thhat my application was accepted, and that I had an official IQ of 147. I’m no longer a member, but then I only joined to see if I could…

Incidentally, is there some sort of official scale that I can refer to? Just how smart is a 147 IQ? How reliable are Mensa’s testing techniques, and how valid is my score?

I found out (by looking at personal records in the office when in high school) mine is 112.
I thought, not bad, til i saw my classmate Harry’s, which was 138!

When I was at school, I was graded at 145.

When I did a “Test your IQ” thing on the internet recently: 160.

Did the Mensa test on their website: 155.

Then I did another “Test your IQ” thing on the internet: 135.

Then I did the BBC “Test your IQ” thing: 128.

So who knows? It’s a crock, IMO.

I also think the online Mensa test is deliberately easy to encourage you to part with money for the real test; I doubt I actually would get into Mensa.
