What's your LEAST favorite Looney Tunes character?

Me? Gotta be Sniffles the Mouse. His blood must be molasses. He’s just plain dull.

(I got this idea from the Foghorn Leghorn thread.)

Porky Pig. Utterly useless.

Henery Hawk, the smart-ass young chicken hawk. He ruins Foghorn Leghorn cartoons.

I’ll second this. I’m also not amused by Tweety Bird and I won’t usually even stop to watch a Tazmanian Devil cartoon.

Tweety Bird is cocky and annoying. I spent many years as a child wishing that Sylvester would just eat him already.

I agree with this, but I must cast my vote for Pepe Le Pew, not only a borderline rapist but even taking him on his own terms he’s not the least bit funny.

I disagree. Never underestimate the importance of a good comic straight man (or, in this case, straight pig). Porky was the perfect foil for Daffy Duck whether as the flustered straight pig or the “comic relief” (e.g., “Duck Dodgers in the 25 and 1/2 Century”). He also worked well with Sylvester in the cartoons where the cat unsuccessfully tries to convince him of the existence of some bizarre threat or circumstance like homicidal mice or being abducted by aliens.

And while we’re on the subject, I think Sylvester was funnier in his non-Tweety cartoons.

Henery is the Scrappy-Doo of Looney Tunes.

The Pepe LePew cartoons are each several minutes of wasted life. I might give Henery a pass as worst character just because he’s teemed up with Foghorn. Pepe, on the other hand, has nothing to offer in his cartoons but a panicky cat, who, improbably, gets a stripe painted on it.

Love. Porky. Pig. In his later incarnations, anyway. Paired with Daffy or even Sylvester he’s a hoot. Love Pepe, too. He’s not evil, just clueless.

ANYway … there are a lot of older characters that were phased out, and a lot of one-offs, that I don’t care for. As much as I adore Looney Tunes / Merrie Melodies, I’m generally not fond of the '30s cartoon style at all. If I had to pick a recurring, well-known one that I don’t like, I guess it would be Henery Hawk, but that’s a mild dislike.

Don’t all the Pepe Le Pew cartoons have the exact same plot? Or maybe I’ve only seen one repeated over and over. Cat gets accidentally striped, Pepe falls for Cat thinking she’s a skunk, Cat hates Pepe’s rank smell and tries to ditch him repeatedly. Is that the only one? If so it’s the only one I’ve ever seen.

The only Looney Tunes character of any reknown that I don’t like is that boxing kangaroo that Sylvester keeps thinking is a big mouse. Oh god, those are so boring. When Tweety Bird sticks it to Sylvester, he’s creative. But this guy – Sylvester chases regular mouse; kangaroo shows up, smacks him in kisser. Repeat ad infinitum. (Of course, Sylvester Jr. usually shows up in those cartoons, and I think he’s a riot. I just wish they would have used him in something else.)

Tweety, of the large crew.

While I’m fairly certain that I’ve seen all of the cartoons (Cartoon Network, when it began, played nothing but Looney Toons all day, every day), it’s been so long that I’ve forgotten all the minor characters.

I would probably still choose Tweety though, just for being so sucky while still getting top billing.

That’s Hippety Hopper, and he’s hilarious in his earliest appearances (especially Pop 'Im, Pop!) before the formula got played out and Sylvester Junior morphed into the neurotic equivalent of Scrappy Doo.

Tweety and Pepe, I could live without, and the later toons that pitted Speedy Gonzales against Daffy did neither character any good.

I dunno. Daffy was annoying. Foghorn too. I am not sure that - as and adult - there are too many I still like.

Not to be confused with Hoppity Hooper.

If only Tom and Jerry were eligible, I’d have a really easy answer.

That said, I’m going to say Taz. I find him annoying in the “tries to hard and fails miserably” way. Less energetic failures are easier for me to digest.

But doesn’t anyone fucking hate Road Runner?

Me? Absolutely not. The Road Runner/ Wile E. Coyote shorts are my absolute favorites.

I had a physics teacher in high school who used to play these once a week and challenge us to find the most physically impossible things that happened within. Loved that guy, if only for this. (By the way: you can’t write them fast enough)

Speedy Gonzalez was really just a half-joke character. He ran fast – but so did the Roadrunner.

There’s are several long forgotten characters at the end of the run, when the creators had moved on. These include Cool Cat, Bunny and Claude, and Merlin the Magic Mouse. None were particularly good.

Hands down, Tweety. Die a hundred deaths, bird.
