I suppose that’s a nice(?) way of saying “Oh, well, shit happens.” Life seems to be totally random. Hard to accept, but it’s true.

This has nothing to do with religion of any sort. It’s to do with maintaining things you know to be right and just, and not contributing to the shallowness of modern culture, yet still trying to contribute to its advancement.
I mentioned on another board that, after my separation, my son comes first, before me or my ex. Somebody said I “must be old school”. It was a compliment, but I actually found it depressing. In this age of “Fuck you!” and soundbites, just… well, keep the faith.
