Hi, I’m MichyMe1 and I have a thing for television and movie songs. I’m also obsessed with Beethoven’s 9th. My library is so different from my CD collection. My CDs are all Top 40 while my library contains songs I would have never thought to buy. Now I must get Lalo Schifrin and Mike Post CDs.
So, tell me your name and/or what kind of things you can expect to find there.
While you’re at it, can you explain to me how I can look in your library and how to work that Hot list thing?
My name is shimmery47…you can add me to your hotlist (if you want by going under “actions” up in the menu bar and clicking “add user to hotlist”.
To find out what files I have right-click on my name and pick “refresh file list”. Actually I think you can just double-click on my name but if that doesn’t work try the other thing.
Since my mom and brother use this screenname too, I have a wide variety of 80’s music (the good & the bad), rap, top 40, stuff from movies, wierd al, and sports stuff. Oh yeah, and folk music.
Hey, I’ve always wanted to have started a movement. Yay.
My Napster name is JackBatty - big surprise huh?
I just downloaded it on Saturday morning, and so far I’ve got about 30-40 songs downloaded. Mostly old 70’s stuff and some 90’s alternative. I also ripped up my brother-in-law’s band’s cd into MP3s and included them in my library. His band is called Frank Burns. They swear they didn’t name themselves after the MASH character, rather they were describing a hot dog after falling in the camp fire. Whatever. The CD was recorded in the bassist’s barn/studio, in a hail of rock and roll tragedy, so take it with a grain of salt. Good songwriting, but they could have benefited by a few more takes, in my opinion (don’t tell my brother-in-law I said that).
My name is Mdsok, it means nothing. I tried several different names, all of which had been taken (Cabbage was already taken :(), so I smacked the keyboard out frustation and thus Mdsok was born.
A lot of my my stuff is singles from the 70’s and 80’s that are kind of catchy but I’d never bother to actually buy.
In fact, the first song I downloaded was “Western Union” by our very own aha, and I downloaded it from one pepperlandgirl. I can’t say for certain it was our very own pepperlandgirl, but how many pepperlandgirls can there be? PLG, if you’re out there, thanks for the song. And thank you, aha!
my Napster name is pricciar. I too, just downloaded Napster on Saturday, I didn’t know that there was a new movement starting, jsut figured I would like to find out what it is like.
Right now I only have four files in my folder. They are all old time radio shows. That is why I downloaded napster as a new way to get shows.
My Napster name is ColdestFire. My library currently holds 595 files - mostly rock (from conventional to hard, and melodic/progressive) and cheesy 80’s pop (predominantly EuroTrash shite).
I’m not Napstering much these days, as my Soundcard is still busted - playing Foo Fighters’ “Nothing Left to Lose” on the CD Rom now, with the speakers wired to the CD headphone jack
But even when I am, I usually shut down the uploads option. You see, I am on an ISDN dial-up, and getting 30 DL requests a minute seriously messes up my connection speed - predominantly used for the SD.
Ahola! My Napster name is … absoul.
I have a ton of stuff (50gigs) from Abba to Zappa, with an emphasis on Hard Rock and Techno.
be sure you also download -http://www.napigator.com/
It is just an add on to Napster that allows you to choose which distribution server you want to connect to. Many of the servers are privately operated, so even if they pull the plug on Napster… you can still connect!
(many of the private servers are alot better than the Napster ones!)
I’m Aelphaba, I have 96 files, and you’d find a rather odd mix in my library. A lot of Tom Waits, some Alice Cooper, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Harry Connick, Jr.
My current favorite is Eve of Destruction as performed by Jesse Ventura. It’s just too hilarious.
I have a 28.8 modem, and I just downloaded Napster.
2 things:
1: when you run the installation program, you get the warning message, “This program is protected by copyright law and international treaties.” That’s chutzpah for you. ;j
2: given my modem speed, is there any point in trying Napster out? Do you NEED cable modem or some such?
This doesn’t directly answer the original post, but I hope in the future to be able to.
In everything but AIM and ICQ (the former I’m Erlidh, the latter I’m a number), I am iampunha. Or rather, Iampunha. Or something like that. At least, I think I am. I haven’t logged into napster in a while due to the fact that my room PC’s ethernet jack (read: school problem, not my PC) is broken.
The Man Who,
Sure, give it a shot. I think I see people on there running at 14.4k. Now mind you, if you’re downloading from someone who’s on a 56k and they notice you dragging them down, you’re going to get suddenly disconnected from that person. But nothing hurt from trying.
My name on Napster is Iofiel. Why anyone would want my songs is seriously beyond me. But hey – it’s your hard drive space. My name on AIM is Edamoth in case you were wondering about that as well.
Well, on MY computer at college, complete with Ethernet card, I downloaded all songs in under a minute and had a 400 song library. Unfortunately, while my parents have a super-fast cable modem and I DL everything in under 45 seconds, I can only have about 60 songs before my comp gets full.
So that explains my small selection. A great big mix, really. Hope ya like it.
My name is Alpha, but my library is empty.
I dn’t have anything you want, anyway. All I’ve collected are oldies I found available at T3, and I’ve got 28kb, so no one ever selects me to load from.
