What's your record in presidential elections?

Since the first presidential election I was eligible to vote in, my candidate has won 71% of the time (5 out of 7). It helped that I started out conservative and became disillusioned during GWB’s second term. But even if I regret some of my votes in hindsight, it’s still a pretty good record. How’s yours?

'88: Bush (beat Dukakis)
'92: Bush (lost to Clinton)
'96: Dole (lost to Clinton)
'00: Bush (beat Gore)
'04: Bush (beat Kerry)
'08: Obama (beat McCain)
'12: Obama (beat Romney)

I’m two-for-two.

4 for 7. I’ve voted in the same elections as you, Skammer, but always Democrat. I could’ve voted in 1984, but didn’t like either Mondale or Reagan, and so forsake my civic duty.

I missed on Reagan-Carter. I was young and didn’t realize the appeal Reagan had to the older generation. I missed on Bush-Gore also. Well anyway I missed on the result, not the way people intended. Those were my picks, but I often voted for third party candidates. Usually Harold Stassen.

I’m 4 for 9. I’m a (somewhat) liberal Democrat who had the bad luck to become eligible to vote just at Reagan’s first election.

1980 Carter (lost)
1984 Mondale (lost)
1988 Dukakis (lost)
1992 Clinton (won)
1996 Clinton (won)
2000 Gore (lost*)
2004 Kerry (lost)
2008 Obama (win)
2012 Obama (win)

4 out of 9

I’m 4 for 10. As far as I’m concerned I was right every time.

1972 McGovern (lost)
1976 Carter (won)
1980 Carter (lost)
1984 Mondale (lost)
1988 Dukakis (lost)
1992 Clinton (won)
1996 Clinton (won)
2000 Gore (lost)
2004 Kerry (lost)
2008 Obama (won)
2012 Obama (won)

5 for 11

I’m 5 out of 9:

1980 Reagan (won)
1984 Mondale (lost)
1988 Dukakis (lost)
1992 Clinton (won)
1996 Clinton (won)
2000 Gore (lost)
2004 Kerry (lost)
2008 Obama (won)
2012 Obama (won)

Dukakis lost
Clinton won
Clinton won
Gore (lost*)
Kerry lost
Obama won
Obama won

Bush in 2000
Bush in 2004
McCain in 2008
Romney in 2012

So 50%

My voting record is the same as yours, with the exception of this year, when I voted for Gary Johnson.

I was shocked, shocked to find that he didn’t win

I’m 5 and 3.

I won on Reagan, Clinton twice and Obama twice and lost on Dukakis, Gore and Kerry. But I paraphrase Otto from A Fish Called Wanda: we didn’t lose on Gore, it was a tie!

I won 5/lost 7.

Democrat every time(since 1968).

1976 Carter (won)
1980 Carter (lost)
1984 Mondale (lost)
1988 Dukakis (lost)
1992 Clinton (won)
1996 Clinton (won)
2000 Gore (lost)
2004 Kerry (lost)
2008 Obama (won)
2012 Obama (won)

5 out of 10

I’ve done much better in local elections.

1976 Carter (won)
1980 Carter (lost)
1984 Mondale (lost)
1988 Dukakis (lost)
1992 Clinton (won)
1996 Clinton (won)
2000 Gore (lost)
2004 Kerry (lost)
2008 Obama (won)
2012 Obama (won)

5 for 10

Only one win in my lifetime… and in fact that is the only race that I have ever elected anyone to office.

1992 Ross Perot
1996 Ross Perot
2000 Harry Browne
2004 Michael Badnarik
2008 Barrack Obama
2012 Gary Johnson

2 for 6. Of course I had a tendency to vote for 3rd party candidates. And I never expected them to win. So in elections where my vote might have counted I’m 2 for 3.

Just had my second win. My first was in 2008.

I can’t for the life of me remember how I voted in 88, my first time voting. Otherwise I’ve got a fifty percent sucess rate (if that’s the correct term).
