What's your stereotypical outfit?

One of my co-workers wears the same hoodie and denim jacket every day. He wears t-shirts under them, but still… he never takes them off.

Myself: Tan or black Dockers, black suede Sketchers. In winter, a purple Van Heusen shirt; in summer, a Hawaiian or “club” shirt.

Men’s Wrangler or Rustler (inferior, but still acceptable) boot cut jeans with holes everywhere (the pair I’m wearing right now has half of one back pocket ripped off and holes in both knees). Tightish thrift store t-shirt with a wifebeater in a contrasting color peeking out from underneath. Black suede high-top Chucks or Vans checkerboard slip-ons (black and white only, I’m a purist). Mr. Rogers style button-up-the-front men’s cardigan. If it’s really cold, I’ll wear a brown Dickie’s hoodie. In the summer I favor Dickie’s Men’s Cell Phone Pocket shorts instead of the Wranglers, and although I rarely get to wear it I’ll bring the sweater with me, just in case. I’ll occasionally wear brown or olive green flip-flops. If I’m at school I carry a gray messenger bag. Leather cuff or leather watch on left wrist.

I have all of the above in a wide range of colors, but I probably wear brown and green more than anything else.

Winter: cute argyle v-neck sweater with dress shirt underneath, jeans, cute flats, blazer/pea coat

Summer: jeans, fitted polo or plain tshirt (often black or white), Old Navy flip flops

And I always wear my silver Anne Klein watch and a couple cheap silver rings.

Plaid, plaid, and more plaid.

Finding out that I have Scottish ancestry explained a lot.

Nice but not crazy nice jeans, dark shirt of some kind (long sleeve T, long sleeve button down, short sleeve polo, depending on weather and occasion - black most likely, but red is another personal fave), black Rockports. Absolutely crucial that it all is well fitted - feeling comfortable in what I’m wearing tends to be a really good way to build a good mood, and I HATE baggy clothes unless I’m just lying on my couch.

If I’m at work, nice Dockers instead of jeans, and the shirt is definitely button down (and, well, work-quality instead of casual-quality). Same basic principles though

Polo shirt or T-shirt (solid color, no logos or artwork) or occasionally, a button-down shirt, jeans (sometimes black), Reebok Ex-O-Fit shoes (black, high-top). I’m often seen wearing a good-quality black baseball-type hat (no logos or words). I won’t wear anything that’s baggy, and upon reflection, I don’t seem to own anything white except underwear.

my day to day wardrobe is all about color- I have to wear something brightly colored, and different bright color combinations. I have yellow, hot pink, lime green, turquoise, etc. I’m also always wearing pants that are slightly large, b/c my weight fluctuates to a large extent and I never seem to have clothes that fit where I am- its always a choice between slightly too tight or slightly too large (most of the time I pick the latter).

So… unusual color-combination of shirts, slightly large jeans, red striped adidas sneakers. If I have to look dressy, though, I’ll drop the color combinations and just wear black- for me, the absence of color is dressy-looking :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

When I had a job, I wore boring suits.

Jeans or non-dressy slacks, a solid-color tee shirt, and a jacket, often open, when it’s cold. Rarely sweatshirts, they’re a little too casual and baggy for my taste. I hate shorts. I’ll often refuse to wear them until it’s over 85 or 90 out.

Female, 29.

Bootcut jeans and Fluevog/harness boots or jeans and flipflops depending on what season of the year it is.

T-shirts or long-sleeved tees. Threadless makes a frequent appearance on my chest.

Winter/Spring (<75 F): long sleeve baby tee, blue jeans, zip up black jacket and white running shoes.

Summer/Fall (>75 F): Short sleeve or sleeveless baby tee, knee length skirt and flats.

I walk around outside all the time on campus, so my clothing is very dependent on the seasonal weather. Which, considering Houston, can vary widely from hellishly hot to really f*cking cold.

Female, 29.

Winter: Wide-leg trousers, v-neck sweater, usually cashmere, colour varies. Always beautiful shoes, heel height depending on how tolerant of pain I’m feeling.

Summer: Some kind of dress, style dress depends on several factor including temperature, how body-confident I’m feeling, and whether I’m feeling frilly and girly, or plain and simple. Usually worn with sandals.

That’s for work. Outside of the office, it varies too much for there to be a “type”.

Vest.

Fleece or leather, but a vest.

It holds cell phone, PDA, camera, pens, mechanical pencil, eyeglass cleaning wipes, bottle of purell, pack of gum, and in the summer, keys and sunglasses. And when I get home, I just slip it off and it’s ready to go again.

Jeans. Black shoes. Brown Jacket. Green shirt to match.

I look very much like the stereotypical grad student. It’s all comfort and utlity to tell the truth. The jacket has pockets for notes, a hood for the wind, it’s big and insulating for the weather. The shoes are waterproof. The jeans and shirt are comfortable.

If I’m feeling classy: slacks, fitted blouse or nice sweater, heels. Sometimes a dress in warm weather. Wool pea coat in the winter. I may even wear earrings and try to do my nails. I dress like this at the beginning of the school term, when I’m feeling all great about myself and the world and this is the quarter I’ll really knock 'em dead and read all the boring postmodern articles I was assigned! YEAH!

When that all wears off, around midterms or so, I switch back to: jeans, tshirt, Chuck Taylors, a hoodie, and a bad attitude. At some point, I may stop wearing makeup or doing my hair (my corduroy pork pie hat is making a comeback now as I approach finals). I’ll probably switch to capris and flipflops pretty soon here as summer approaches.

Female, 27, aging undergraduate.

That sounds like Mr J, except for change the hiking boots to a funky pair of Puma’s. Not at work: the above with a white t-shirt.

Me: 22/f - jeans (usually low rise & flared or loose boot cut), a plain colored crew-neck shirt or plain turtleneck (winter) & Diesel Bellatrix shoes. I’m a simple gal… and don’t have to dress up for work.
