To expand on this thought, run a commercial featuring these men stating “What Real Billionaires Think of Donald Trump”, with the implications that The Donald is lying about his true net worth and the possible Russian connection as the reasons he won’t release his tax returns.
I like a number of the strategies listed above, and I will add this one. Trump loves him some Twitter. So let’s keep him distracted there. There are a number of people who have been going at him on Twitter, some have gotten the Trump stamp of disapproval, which is a nickname. Of these, Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren has been very effective at provoking him.
Others have been, seemingly, less effective. Keith Olbermann attacks Trump with great fervor, but, AFAIK, has not gotten a direct response.
So, we need to add more to this attack. People that he would not be able to resist replying to. Mark Cuban likes Twitter, right? Let’s get him going. Al Franken should be able to get a rise out of the Donald. Heck, Joe Biden would be a good one, although someone would need to censor him, perhaps.
I’m thinking tweets pointing out the complete lack of policy and knowledge or some absolute irrefutable fact, combined with a slightly veiled personal shot.
Example;
Obama: Donald, my approval rating is at 51% now. Much higher than yours. Sad!
He’s a business man. Let Warren Buffet, Mark Cuban, and maybe convince Bill Gates (known Democrat leanings) take him down.
He’s a tough guy. Remind everyone how he dodged the draft. Find someone who knows some dark secret about him, like how he is germaphobe and has to wash his hands all the time. Tough guys aren’t germaphobes. Also, let Muslim and Hispanic war heroes challenge his manhood.
He’s an American superman. Putin. Putin. More Putin.
I’ve been saying for several months that I am convinced Trump would not pass a psych evaluation. Not as snark or hatred or even fear, but sincere belief. Sane people do not behave this way. If he was to be hauled in off a street corner, he’d be given involuntary commitment.
Have you seen any evidence from the DNC that this is true? It really is no different than the RNC putting Patricia Smith*, (mother of a man who died in the Benghazi attack), on their stage. All parties like to find at least one family “harmed” by the “other side” and hold them up as examples of the poor quality of their opponents. Given Trump’s claim to want to “hit” all the speakers who criticized him in Philadelphia, I doubt that there was a lot of “Ooooh! Let’s set him up with this family!” going on in the DNC strategy sessions. Probably every DNC speaker was viewed as potential overreaction bait.
Of course, the tale gets worse. While I feel sorrow for Mrs. Smith’s loss, her complaint against Ms. Clinton can be offset by Ambassador Stevens’s mother saying the opposite.
And now we have the liars at Faux News claiming that the mainstream media refused to cover Mrs. Smith’s presentation live when the ONLY major media outlet to not cover her live was Faux, itself.
It might have been a trap set by the Democrats, but Trump was the one who stepped in the trap, crippled himself, then opened the jaws of the trap and stuck his head in it, before letting it spring back again. Nobody could have confidently predicted that
I don’t think the Khan moment will sink him. It draws people in and they watch, and he might make missteps while people are watching, so in that sense, yeah, he has goofed. But I think it’s Warren Buffet and Mark Cuban who can slay him. Bullies never take on people who have the same level of power, or who are like them. They always attack people they perceive as vulnerable. The fact that Khan actually fought back is probably enough to make Trump think twice about continuing his shitshow. Trump wants to provoke, harass, fight, and move on. He doesn’t like long, drawn-out, protracted fights. He likes to declare himself the winner and move on to the next victim. People who fight back can make Trump look weak. People who drag this shit out and turn a push into a brawl can make him look bad.
I was wondering about Russian connections, but I suspect Cuban is dead on: he’s just not making that much money. Trump borrows money from creditors and then uses that as leverage and decides who he’s going to pay and who he’s not. It’s almost like a barely legal form of fraud.
Actually, the ad I just saw last night had a bunch of children staring at a television showing clips of some of the various stupid things Trump has said and done on the air.
After her performance last night, the best way to make Trump look bad is to encourage his spokesperson, Katrina Pierson, to make more appearances doing interviews. :D:D
I have no problem with making political rallies crying baby free zones.
Where Trump messed up, (although it will probably only hurt him with the family of the baby’s mother), was in humiliating the mother. First he made a big deal of not having a problem with the kid crying, although it was clear from his comment that the mother was trying to calm the child. A few moments later, he made a point of saying that she really thought I did not care if there was a baby crying at my rally, (I am not looking up the exact words), and then went on to repeatedly say that those people “did not understand.”
There was no need to be rude or to go out of his way to humiliate the mother. Stepping aside and asking an usher to deal with the situation would have been fine. (Well, maybe, given the types of thugs that Trump has hired as ushers, so far, they would probably have physically thrown the baby into the street.)
