What's your traffic ticket rate?

I had three as a teenager and one as an adult. So four in 45 years of driving.

One speeding ticket in almost 50 years of driving. 63 in a 55.

I do have the dubious honor of having a highway patrolman almost jump out of my car when I was taking my driving test in Seattle. Or maybe he was just grabbing the door handle to brace himself. I’m not sure. (I blew an intersection in heavy traffic.)

One warning when I’d had my license for all of a few weeks and did a very stupid thing while driving.

One kind-of warning last summer when I did something extremely stupid, dangerous, and illegal on my bicycle, which resulted in being about six inches away from a violent introduction to the front grill of a police car. He pulled over and we had a nice little chat about just how stupid, dangerous, and illegal what I had done was.

Three days after getting my license, I got one for “improper turning around,” 9 years 3 months later one speeding ticket, and 10 years 5 months after that, another speeding ticket.

I should expect to get caught again in April of 2018. :dubious:

Three moving violations:

  1. Speeding (65 in a 55, on my way home from buying my very first car)
  2. Making a turn without signaling (signal was broken – ended up being a fix-it)
  3. Running through a crosswalk while it was occupied

The last of those was in May of 1997.

I’ve been warned once, which was about three years ago. I got pulled over by a cop who very clearly was looking for someone specific, and I apparently fit the profile. He walked up, took my license, then told me to slow down and wear my seatbelt (which I had been up until I stopped the car) and then walked away.

In 2004, I was briefly tailed by a cop when I inadvertently ran a red light right in front of him. Apparently he ran my plates, saw I had a clean record at that point, and then let me go without ever pulling me over.

I’ve been driving for 15 years, so I guess that’s a pretty decent average.

Can’t remember them all; at least one every year and for 3-4 years 20+, all speeding tickets, all without being pulled over, all on deserted roads at night. (I worked irregular hours in many different places) There are a lot of cameras on our (Dutch)roads.

33, male,
O accidents.
Driving since '94
‘ratio’ ~ 4-5

Been driving since 1971; two moving violations, one around 1979, the other around 1983, both for going velocities wildly in excess of the speed limit (95 in a 55 in the second case). I’ve calmed down considerably since then.

Driving 38 years. I’m clean for the last 20. Before that:

4 separate moving violations: speeding, unsafe lane change, failure to yield, illegal u-turn.
1 parking ticket
1 fix-it ticket (tail light out)
1 bicycle-riding ticket (running a stop sign)

I’m 55, and I’ve gotten about a half-dozen speeding tickets, the last one about 8 years ago, all of them except one for passing some dumbass motherfucker clogging up traffic. (My first speeding ticket I was pissed, having just broken up with my girlfriend, and doing 85 on the LIE.) Lately I’ve been accumulating Red Lights via trafficcam–the flash goes off as I speed up through the yellow light, and I get sent a picture of my car in an intersection with a red light. Frustrating, because all the yellow lights in NYC are differently timed, so if catch a quick one, that’s another fifty bucks shot to hell. I’ve gotten about four of them the last six years. They don’t count against my driving record, so I guess I don’t really care that much.

From memory…not at all sure it is accurate…
3 speed cameras in four years

1 for 86km/h in a 50 km/h zone in the same period

1 for 99 in a 50 km/h zone in same period (i was doing 103 km/h but cop wrote it down as 50+ over limit is automatic dangerous driving - guess pulling over when I saw him u-turn was worth it)

2 warnings for around 70 km/ h in a 50

1 didn’t get “locked in” on radar as approaching cop from behind, doing 160 km/h in a 60 zone (I slowed when I saw him brake) - got read the riot act BIG TIME

1 dressing down for flipping the bird to an off duty cop on his way to work (in uniform but personal car) when he wouldn’t let me merge…would love to have seen my face when he hung the badge out the window at me - on relfection I shoulda reported him for bullying me.

None (except for parking) in the last three years / 120,000 km - and I do speed WAAAY too much, just not when cops are around. Lady luck seems to ride in my passenger seat in this regard

I have not even been pulled over for 25-30 years. I expect that to change. The Detroit Papers said almost every jurisdiction in the state shows an increase in writing tickets. Many areas are up approx. triple in the last 5 years. It is about revenue.

Why would you expect it to change? If you drive within the law you’re not going to get a speeding ticket or other violation regardless of the targets cops are operating to.

Driving for 32 years.

0 accidents.

~ 6 speeding tickets. I usually never speed, and try not to. One ticket I got when a semi-was on my ass on a 2 lane highway. He could not pass, there was no safe place for me to pull over, and I was tired of being tailgated. I got the ticket.

I am 25 years old and I have never received a traffic ticket.

One in 23 years. And that one was trumped up. If you’re driving around Westchester County on a Saturday night with Iowa plates, DON’T touch the yellow line with your tires or it’s gonna cost you several dekabucks and possibly a false accusation of drunkenness.

Because they lie.

Im 23 and havent had anything - appears I have a lot to catch up on!

Back in my teens and early 20s I was getting speeding tickets about once every two to three months. I was young and reckless then and I actually had my license suspended for racking up too many points. Once I straightened up my act I only got maybe one ticket a year. My last speeding ticket (or any ticket) was in April of 1997 when I was out in the middle of nowhere and it was late at night, the last place I expected to see a cop. The speed limit was ridiculously low, 35 mph on a road that could easily have handled 50 or 55 mph.

Incidentally, I was pulled over just a couple weeks ago, but the cop just advised me to remove my license plate frame since it covered up the registration sticker. Considering how often I have ahd policeman right behind me and had no doubt seen my registration sticker covered up, I figured it must have been a really slow night for him.

39 - never been pulled over. 0 tickets/fines. Not even a parking ticket.

Been driving 30 years. Pulled over three times–once for speeding, twice for expired inspection sticker. Three warnings, zero tickets.
