I’ve had way too many melatonin nights lately. Sleeping schedule thrown off, plus it’s hard to sleep when it’s that cold, plus my melatonin pills taste like candy… :o
Back to work on the music arrangements.

I am also considerin’ goin’ to bed with ol’ mel tonight.
Ol’ Mel sure gets around. I hope he’ll have time for me, too.
I’m sure he will. Mel will go to bed with anybody.
Beans & slaw? Sounds like a nose plug night iffn you ask me.
Speaking of which, I sit near the kitchenette at irk; close enough that I can hear the water run in the sink or coffee machine.
Someone walked in there today & stepped on a large duck.
My Granmama used to say she slept with three men:

Time to recline. MWAH!!
We have these thermals that are fairly thin but warm. Our norm is one of those under a quilt. For the moment I have added a Hudsons Bay 6 point woolie on top. Those Britishers may not know much about how to work in the New World, but they make a damn fine blanket.
Had some steaks I grilled over the weekend heated in gravy and mushrooms and with some smashed potatoes. Since its all of 28 and only going down to 12 we may not have to run the little heater in the basement or the fan for the pipes. Yea us.
I lost part of my beard once grilling. Had a flame-up and closed the lid, counted 10 and opened it back up. Woosh went the flames, gone went part of the facial hair, harharhar went the Mrs.
(She has sometimes claimed that being married to me is like being the owner of a private comedy club)
In cold weather we make sure to do at least one load of laundry a day to keep the pipes not-frozen.
I promise that when the temperature is finally above freezing (0 degrees C, 32 degrees F) I will eat an ice cream cone outside.
Pickled asparagus.
When one could steam it for a few moments, and cover it with Hollandaise sauce.
Oh, the shame.
:dubious:
Worked, came home. Made grilled cheese with tomato soup for dinner. No Mel for me, I sleep like a baby.*
*I wake up every two hours, wet myself and cry.
Come on Flotrap, you’re talking about Swampy.
“Flotrap” sounds like a part of a toilet.
During the winter that included the blizzard of '78 mentioned earlier, we went several weeks below 0°F and over a month below freezing. Once the temp crept up to freezing, students were walking around campus with their coats unbuttoned and no hats on! Behold the wonder of relative temperatures!
We’re supposed to see low 40s today, then possibly 3" of snow overnight. Enough already! Winter sucks!! Dammit!
I’m thinking today’s big project will involve converting the blackening 'nanners into 'nanner bread. I may even get ambitious enough to clean the bathrooms, which is my second-most hated chore, after dusting. The hall bath won’t be too bad, since the tub hasn’t been used in ages, and the sink and toilet are pretty easy to do. But the dreaded shower in the master bathroom… Altho I’ve found that if I sprinkle Comet on the floor of the shower, then use a scrubby sponge underfoot, I can do a pretty good job of getting most of it clean.
Mel helped me sleep fairly well last night, but our experiment in leaving the door open wasn’t a very good one. Our bedroom gets pretty chilly with the door closed, so I suggested we open it. I don’t mind Taz sleeping next to me, but last night, he went for a walk, then came back and walked on me before settling down to sleep again. Then Higgs started barking around 4:30, so I chased the cat out and locked the door, and we got a little more sleep. No more open door.
And on that thought, Happy Wednesday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated, and purtified so no YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 50 and rain for the day. I have to foray into the south forty this mornin’ and I’m hopin’ most of the rain holds off until I’m done but it looks like I’ll be in it whilst drivin’ back. ICK! OYKW and I are goin’ to go grab a bizkit at Hardee’s this mornin’. We have a Hardee’s on our side of town (the side where we both irk) now. YAY! Hardee’s makes good bizkits.
flytrap and spidey pickled asparagus, like most pickled veggies except fart blossoms which are awful no matter what, is tasty. Especially the pickled asparagus I et yestiddy. Pickled in dill, garlic, and sump’n, we couldn’t quite figure what, that gave it a little spicy kick. NUM! Also asparagus with hollandaise sauce is nummy but I like asparagus steamed with a little butter and lemon just as well.
Ok, I hear OYKW emergin’ from purtification so we’re off to Hardee’s.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Up, caffeinated, off to training. Or not, it’s hard to tell in this weather.
Well, he’s been flushed twice by the Mrs. Plants.
swampy, I like my asparagus sauteed with olive oil and garlic.
I don’t like asparagus at all, so youse guys can fight over my share!
Riddle me this - why does the smell of celery cling so insistently? I put celery seed in the slaw yesterday, and I couldn’t get the scent out of my nose. When I chop up celery for soup, the smell stays on my hands despite soapy scrubbing. I am not impressed!!!
On the other hand, I think I’ll make some N.O.T. soup for supper tonight…
Since he said, “Kiss my grits”, which was the famous line of Flo; it only seemed fitting to correct the spelling of his name.
Happy Hump Day!
It’s supposed to get above freezing today, all the way up to 36.
Was 78 the year that was so cold the bay froze over?
I remember seeing the frozen bay, too weird. I remember my father took us out to dinner and we drove over the Bay Bridge. There was a ship stuck out there, and the poor little ducks were swimming in circles trying to keep the water from freezing around them.
SSDD around here.
Kiss my celery, you weboulous freak.
Ahem.
Mom, I imagine that is why celery seed is used as a spice.
