When comics were comic....

This may get bumped to Mailbag Questions, as it was prompted by DextHavn’s reference to Scrooge McDuck and “Only a Poor Old Man.”

Was Moby Duck or Gyro Gearloose ever in a classic Disney short? Even WB’s Sniffles’ pal Mary Jane has been tracked down, but I’ve never heard about these two. I know Gearloose made it into “Ducktales,” but that hardly counts.

Thanks.

I don’t think so. Gyro Gearloose and Moby Duck were born in the comic books, in the 1950’s, I believe, and never (to my knowledge) made it to the big screen.

Gyro Gearloose was created by legendary Duck artist Carl Barks (also responsible for giving us Uncle Scrooge, Huey, Dewey and Louie, and the Beagle Boys, among others). I’m not sure who came up with Moby Duck.
