When Daleks Strip -- Nerdlesque

Burlesque for Geeks. It’s like that SNL sketch about the 1-800 phone lines for geeks. And it’s in the Wall Street Journal. With a video:

Googling “nerdlesque” gets you lots of other sites covering this stuff, going back to last year.

There are a few things in life that make me wish I lived nearer to a large city. This is one.

I love the fact that the WSJ added a little stipple-art drawing of “Burlesque Luigi”.

Didn’t the reality HBO series Cathouse feature a prostitute making a sexy Star Wars Stormtrooper outfit for a particularly good nerd customer?

I found a burlesque video for Catnip Dream, by Shonen Knife, not too long ago. It was interesting.

We caught the Star Wars show “A Nude Hope” at the Chicago Gorilla Tango theater last spring. It was A LOT of fun, with creative costuming & very tongue in cheek humour. It was just a little naughty - I think only one of the performers went all the way down to pasties & g-strings.

I also appreciated that the performers were “normal” looking - different shapes & sizes & no (obvious) boob jobs - the frat boys sitting behind us looking for a sleazy strip show were disappointed.

Why the hell were they at a new burlesque show and not at the Admiral Theater?
