When did "Boom." become a commonly-accepted to way "Yeah - I said it." or thereabouts

I looked around the SDMB, but didn’t find a thread on this - sorry if one exists in another Forum.

Otherwise - the OP titles asks it all. It’s been around for a few years and is even experiencing a bit of backlash. When did it start getting popular - and from what corner of pop culture?

I’m sure this isn’t it, but its the most memorable I could think of.

Gameday Bucket go Boom
KFC 2013

I realized it was getting crossover big around Father’s Day last year, 2012. That’s when Ronan Farrow tweeted that it was “Father’s Day, or as we refer to it in my family, Brother-in-Law’s Day” to take a stab at Woody Allen. Mia Farrow retweeted Ronan’s tweet, adding “Boom.”

I am guessing sometime in the summer of 2014.

Boom?!? Wha…?

Could it be related to the infamous “Boom goes the dynamite” incident? (Link is to Wiki article; video is on YouTube; link is targeted to phrase.)

Steve Jobs.

John Madden?

Just Ed - thanks; I’d forgotten that!

tellyworth - cool! I’d never seen those clips.

In both cases, Boom is being used to say “Presto!”, give or take. The use of Boom I am targeting is more like a mic drop - Game Over, you’ve been served, we’re done here…

“Not yet”, I would have thought.

I thought it was from “boom, headshot” which has been a gamer thing for a while.

This is also the first thing I thought of.

Maybe next month.
