When did Time Magazine start back with showing people smoking in print ads? I was a little surprised by this pic, but maybe I’ve missed the other stuff. Is this a new policy or am I slow on the uptake re noticing this?
I guess first I’d like to see a link to a Time magazine cite.
If you’re going to allow cigarette ads in your magazine, why would you care whether the people in the ads are smoking the cigarettes? What else are cigarettes for?
Vice laws are notoriously wacky. I believe that you are not allowed to show people drinking beer in beer commercials on TV, in the US. I mean it is not like the beer companies are promoting beer as good for your house plants.
It’s a picture from this week’s issue, distributed in the Maryland region.
In googling it’s apparent I’m late to the party as this campaign has been going on for well over a year.
Except that’s not a law. It’s an industry self-regulation.
Sorry to be dense. Is it only in the MD area issues, or National?
