They say many people’s hair looks basically like it did in their high school photo.
In junior high I had a crew cut, in high school like Ricky Nelson
In the '70’s long like the Bee Gees.
Since then it’s been back to the high school style.
I’ve been shaving my head for 20 years now.
It’s shorter than it was in high school ('71-'75), but parted in the same place and swept across my forehead Hitler-style. As my hairline has receded, I’ve kept a close eye on it, as the last thing I ever want is a comb-over. So far a strong widow’s peak has saved me from that ignominy.
After I first cut it short, about 2003.
I love buzzed hair because I never have to take care of it, and I will keep this for as long as I can.
About 10 years for me. Semi-short hair in high school, long-haired and shaggy from then until 1999 or so. Shaved ever since.
My hair does not look anything like it did in high school. I wore it long and straight back then. Currently I have it cut short and curly. I’ve had it like this since last September. I’ll probably change it again before the year is out.
I stopped chemically straightening my hair about 3 years ago, and locked into my current method of haircare, which in turn informs my hairstyle, in about February. Right now I’m wearing it shoulder length and curly and I love it.
My current hair also looks nothing like my high school style.
It was shoulder length in high school. Now it’s short on the sides and longish on top, for the “perfectly messy” look.
About two years ago my hair was doing better after a long illness and I could comb the front different and it looked better. My old style would look horrible.
I don’t really have a ‘hair style,’ so much as hair that sits on my head and gets cut when it looks too scruffy.
I’ve had long hair since high school, but I can’t stand the work anymore. As soon as I get married (keeping it long for the wedding), I"m cutting it short. Although, short for me is above the shoulders…
A lot of the women I’ve known that had long hair in youth ended up chopping it off mid to late 20s. A few kept it long and some cut it short sooner than that. I don’t know if that’s when they’re having kids and kids like grabbing long hair or what it is, but long hair doesn’t usually last much past 30.
Well, it wasn’t by choice. It’s been growing back after the chemo.
I think it was about 10th grade that I finally decided that my hair was just too much trouble, and cut it all down to about 1/4 inch. I only cut it about twice a year, so it does get a bit longer than that at times, but that’s what I aim for.
My hair has pretty much looked the same since I was a wee 'un, other than the color changing from brown to black. It’s still thick, short, and parted to the side.
I’ve had long, straight hair since about 10th grade, so about 12 years now. It’s really easy to care for and looks good–all I have to do is wash it at night, and it’s ready to go in the morning. I look absolutely awful with short hair, as I learned in 5th grade. Never again. I just discovered henna about 2 years ago, which has made my hair look fantastically healthy, so the color is relatively new, but I imagine I’ll stay with the henna for many, many years.
I’ve kept the same hair style ever since it mostly fell out. But since I’ve been buzzing it short with a #3 guard for over fifteen years, I guess you could say that I kept the same style and god just widened the part.
My hairdresser and I mess around with the length and shape any time I’m feeling like it’s time for a drastic re-do. I am otherwise inclined to the grow-it-long, chop-it-all-off cycle. Inasmuch as I never routinely went to the hairdresser before this one, it’s been about five years of different, but not drastic, hair styles, ranging from just above chin-length to a few inches below shoulder-length.
About 6 months, I guess - starting to get thin, so suddenly the cowlicks that plagued me are gone. Trying a buzz cut, now!
I went to high school in the 80s so I certainly don’t continue to wear a mullet.
I hate getting my hair cut and I look goofy with short hair so I’ve usually kept it about this length since college. I’m not as pretty though.
I went to high school from '83 to '86, so I don’t have the parted-in-the-middle mullet anymore. I wore my hair parted on the right (the natural part for me) and fairly short for about 18 years. Then, at 37, the part started to get wider. And wider.
So now I get get it cut shorter and don’t part it. Damn that asymmetrical balding…
