Can someone give me some hints. I am really frustrated.
How do you affect the size of the image? How do you affect the template for the width of the columns in a sheet? How do you change the default?
I ask because I was forced to convert a file to a newer excel or something and it looks different. It has page numbers on it, it is smaller, the size of the cells may not be good, the spacing of lines. I can’t see where you make these changes.
Also sometimes I paste a file and it loses my columnization. Can I stop this?
Thx
Google “Excel Column Width” : First entry on the results page:
Change the default width for all columns on a worksheet or workbook
Do one of the following: To change the default column width for a worksheet, click its sheet tab. …
On the Home tab, in the Cells group, click Format.
Under Cell Size, click Default Width.
In the Default column width box, type a new measurement. Change the column width and row height - Excel - Office Support
Pagination view: Depends on whether you select view: “Normal” or “Page layout”, details of page numbering, headers, footers and so on are set under “Page Setup”.
If you want to change the default formatting, set all formatting changes in an empty workbook, when save this as Excel template. If you want this template to be used by default, you have to save it under a specific name in a specific location (depends on your actual EXCEL version/Operating system.

It seems right now to want to only print a column or two at a time, and so my print preview is 24 pages instead of 8. Anyone have a quick fix? Also How do you change the print area? I can’t seem to find it.
Is it me or do they try to make this program more difficult to use, and non intuitive every time they change it.
There’s no “print” on the right click; If you hit File you go backwards and lose the visual of the file. They have completely lost the functionality of having drop downs. This cannot be just “the way they do it now” It’s just obfuscation at this point.
OK I try to look for print area. I search and it comes up and seems it just does it without any mediation or messages. So you click it and have to assume it changed it. But it has the same problem as before.
On the print screen, where you don’t have visual of the sheet, there doesn’t seem to me to be any print area control button.
You can’t control the print area from the print screen. You have to do it before hitting the “print” button.
First, set the print area: in Normal view, select the range of cells you want to print and then do whatever your version of Excel needs you to do (for me, on Excel for Mac, it’s File -> Print Area -> Set Print Area).
If the selected print area is too big to fit on one page with the current settings, you will see dotted lines denoting the page breaks. If you want to make the document fit on fewer pages, you can drag the lines to wherever you want the page breaks to be. This will make everything smaller, so if you have a lot of columns, or unusually wide columns, you may want to change the print setting to “landscape” so there’s more horizontal room.
Use the “Page Layout” view to check things out and make sure it looks the way you want before printing.
Depending on your version, when you go to Print Preview (under File > Print), you will see the bottom button which defaults to “No Scaling”. There, you can choose things like “Fit All Columns On One Page” or “Fit Sheet On One Page”, which overrides the default page breaks and fits more on one page.
