Changing the print area in excel?

WTF is sup with this program?

It won’t stop wanting to print other columns after the ones I select. It won’t change the setting to remove this. It is hard enough to select the area because you have to select the whole file, and not by columns going down. The program can’t assume that by default I want to print the whole thing? It really can’t know that?

Why doesn’t print area work?

Now it wants to print the first two columns only and then print the other columns after that. What am I not getting? You can’t stop this by clearing or setting print area.

It sounds like you might also have a page break issue. You might want to look at where those are occurring in the print view and adjust them accordingly. Changing from portrait to landscape, and/or using the “fit to page” setting might also solve this.

ETA: Your OP makes it sounds like you are selecting the entire worksheet. If you are doing this, rather than just the area you want to print, then that explains the issues you are seeing. Since you say that it’s printing columns you don’t want, I gather that you don’t want the entire spreadsheet. Select only the area you want printed, then look at it in print view and adjust page breaks and portrait/landscape accordingly. Use “fit to page” if you need to. This last option may only show up in the print dialog.

Try Page Layout --> Print Area --> Set Print Area

Or select the columns you want to print, go to Print, and then under “Settings,” select “Print Selection” and it will only print what you have selected. You may still have page break or spacing issues, depending on how much you’ve selected.
