When I ask you to think of the host of the game show "Password", you think of who?

I’m curious.

Edit: I’m changing the question since I’m more interested in the answer to “Who is the host of Password to you when you think of the game?”

Betty White, like almost every other game show.

Good answer. I’ve changed the question, though.

Never watched Password but Drew Carey was the first host to come to mind.

Mr. [del]Betty White[/del] Allen Ludden, of course.

Bert Convy, although I must admit I could not think of his name until I saw it as an option. Could just picture the dark, curly hair. I’m not familiar with Ludden at all.

I am just old enough to remember the original CBS version’s last year or so.
As for other shows you’ll probably ask about:

To Tell The Truth: Garry Moore (his syndicated daily 1970s version)
Match Game: Gene Rayburn (I also vaguely remember the original NBC version)
Pyramid: Dick Clark
Hollywood Squares: Peter Marshall
Jeopardy: Art Fleming (probably because the first name that comes to mind is announcer Don Pardo, in his pre-SNL days)

Ludden. If there was someone else doing it then it wasn’t really Password.

Convy.

Ludden for me. I wasn’t aware that Convy had been a host of Password.

Oscar: (disgusted) Aristophanes… !

Ditto. Couldn’t remember his name if you paid me to, but recognize it. Weird as I watched it all the time in the 80s

I think of my grandma. I remember watching the show with her when I was young. We also played the board game. Fond memories.

Convy hosted NBC’s Super Password (pretty much the same as Password Plus).

I can think of three other hosts:
Jack Clark occasionally filled in for Ludden on the 1960s version; somewhere in my collection of recordings, I have an episode he hosted with either a pre-The Brady Bunch Florence Henderson or a decade-before-Benson Inga Swenson on it.
Tom Kennedy took over from Ludden on Password Plus when Ludden became to ill to continue.
Regis Philbin hosted CBS’s Million Dollar Password.

I don’t think he was disgusted; earlier in the show, in a practice round at home, Felix had said “Aristophanes” as a clue, and Oscar said that it was ridiculous; Oscar said it to get Felix to say the password “ridiculous.”

Allen Ludden. One of the best hosts ever.

I clicked on the thread just to see who, other tha Ludden, was mentioned.

Some years ago, when Tom Bergeron hosted the last incarnation of Hollywood Squares, Peter Marshall (and a few other former game show hosts such as Bob Eubanks) was one of the stars. On the final show of that week, Marshall and Bergeron switched places for the last half of that show.

Actually, I saw that episode - but from what I remember, (a) it was a Thursday, and (b) Marshall hosted the entire show (except possibly for the bonus round). Marshall definitely hosted the first part of the show, as he was surprised when he said that each game was worth $1000 (instead of the $200 when he hosted).

Bill Cullen.

Of course Ludden. Convy is the host of Tattletales.
