When is it time to surrender your driver's license?

Don’t know if it’s true, but he wasn’t that long-retired. Or old. He left racing in 1973, and would have been only about 40-50 years old in the 1980s.

This must be the incident I was thinking of. It was in 1988, so he would have been about 49 years old, and he crashed a Jaguar XJR-9 on a day he was supposed to be testing several cars.

Based on that, I have to conclude that nobody over 50 should drive.

We drove a car and an RV from Portland to Minneapolis at age 75 without issue. Like the OP, I don’t care for night-driving, despite no longer having the cataract issues that made me dangerous after dark. I can do it, but don’t care to, especially on an unfamiliar road. I’ll continue to drive until I’m physically or mentally unable to. The loss of that freedom is not something I care to contemplate.
