Apparently there aren’t enough threads about potatoes for me to get noticed.
jz78817 in car and motorcycle threads.
Much appreciated because cars aren’t a strong point for some of the folks here, and it’s nice to go into a thread containing a few misconceptions and see that jz78817 has already cleaned them up and corrected them. Wins the Fighting Ignorance prize from me.
I gather he doesn’t like to talk to me much because I’m annoying but **Chronos **is excellent at explaining the concepts of physics. There are plenty of other good physicists on the board but Chronos is able to explain things clearly in a way that someone with minimal background can understand.
Ha! You made me smile despite myself.
I don’t look to a lot of people to be experts, but I am fond of a bunch of people here, even when I try to be a curmudgeon. ![]()
Seconding or thirding most of those already mentioned.
Adding Jackmannii for all things anti-woo, and Karl Grenze for veterinary medical info. And puddleglum, XT and Vinyl Turnip just because.

Shodan
indistinguishable has an impressive knowledge of math and is also good at explaining it to those of who are mathematically challenged.
I’ll give a shout-out to other foodies on the board like Pulykamell and Silenus. There are many others whose names escape me, but that’s because I’m getting old.
You are one of them.
Muffin, Northern Piper and Spoons for Canadian legal system insight.
I’ll pile on and say Bricker. He looks at things from a strict legal lens. It’s a different view point than I normally get. I don’t think I agree with his politics. But from a legal perspective, I think this board would definitely be poorer if he didn’t spend time here.
Exactly why I included him in my list.
In addition to the other really interesting posters mentioned, I always relish Mississippienne’s contributions to history threads, and especially her “Truth Is Stranger than Fiction” history posts.
For WWII, especially the European theater, I really like hearing from Dissonance. Sailboat is another poster who also is great in said threads.
I blush.
When it comes to etiquette and public behavior, I always enjoy hearing from Shodan’s Mother. My own mother was very much the same, and sometimes it makes me a little teary.
Thanks, Shodan!
Kayaker is no slacker, either! ![]()
Rhiannon in pet threads. She’s got a great breadth of knowledge.
I always enjoy reading posts from Mean Old Lady. She’s got a great sense of humor, writes well and doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Besides, I don’t think she’s half as mean as she says she is. I also read Broomstick’s gardening threads with great interest.
