When Lawyers Marry
I presume that her legal justification, ridiculous or not, is that because the flowers clashed with the linens, she was not only deprived the value of the flowers but of every single bit of decor in the room.
In other words, they really pulled the room together.

I personally don’t think she should get as much as she’s asking for, but few people do.

I can actually kind of sympathize with the bride. I recently got married and our DJ totally fucked me over. He didn’t bring the right music for the ceremony (and didn’t let me know until the last minute, forcing me to come up with a new song quite literally just before I walked to the altar), didn’t play the music I asked him to play during the reception and even screwed up our last dance of the evening. I have to say I was pretty upset about it and still get pretty angry when I think about it. However, I didn’t sue them, I just asked for a partial refund - and got it.

But I can understand feeling as though your wedding was truly ruined. Now whenever I hear Stevie Wonder, instead of having the wonderful memories I was sure I would have, I just get pissed off thinking about my dumbass DJ. It isn’t supposed to be like that…some day it will definitely not be as big of a deal, but I’m still pretty fucking pissed off at the guy.

“Professional Entertainment Consultants” in case you’re wondering.

In this case they asked for a partial refund and were blown off.

Wish I had $27,000 to spend on flowers. I wouldn’t, of course, I’d spend it on drugs and lewd companions.

Now that’s a wedding ceremony I can get behind!

From behind is extra.

In this case, I think the florist wasn’t too bright, as they didn’t have a written contract. Even if I trusted a client, for $27,000 I’d make damn sure there was something in writing. From the link in the OP:

You had better have a written contract when dealing with one of those people.

I mean a lawyer.

What’s the markup on 22 hydrangea centerpieces that cost $27K?
I had to do it of course. Thanks google for finding a picture

Oprah is a Jewish lawyer? Who knew?

Or maybe this is a reference to Izzy the dog? Not all Izzys are Jewish, ya know.

Where in the hell do you get that from what I posted? I very clearly said that she may be entitled to recompense for ACTUAL damages, and that’s IF she really and truly didn’t get what she ordered and her mother-in-law paid for. WE DON’T KNOW THAT YET. The florist categorically denies that. But I still contend that an ENTIRE event cannot be “ruined” because the color of floral centerpieces may have been slightly off.

My bridal bouquet wasn’t at all what I was expecting, but a) it was still lovely, and b) it didn’t fucking MATTER. I was getting married to the man I adore. I was surrounded by family and close friends who were enthusiastically sharing our joy. I would be shocked if any one of them could even tell you (without looking back at the pictures) exactly what kind of flowers I even had, let alone how they contributed or not to the party.

The very idea that the entire reception was utterly ruined beyond repair because of flower color is simply bullshit, in my opinion. She may have a right to be angry with the florist for allegedly not providing what she ordered, but if she let that ruin her wedding day, then she’s an ASS of the highest order.

“I payed 200,000 to have a wedding where everything was magenta; because of the florist’s fraud, I didn’t get a wedding where everything was magenta. Since she actively defrauded me, I want double damages, as the law in many states allows.”

She can make a perfectly rational argument that she’s entitled to the money. Not a particularly strong one, I’d argue, but certainly not one so ridiculous that it’s prima facia evidence of greed or insanity. And weddings are an insanely stressful for a ton of women; compared to the absolute insanity of some of the women on Bridezillas, this is positively meek. I’m wouldn’t be at all surprised to see emotions running high in such a situation; that doesn’t make her “an ASS of the highest order.”
