When Lebron hatred goes too far...

The governor of Ohio shows us how to be an even bigger loser than the losers.

The world is full of evil, people love to bring another person down or to try, even saints…

LeBron didn’t leave out of hatred and doesn’t express hatred… Who is though?
So many people talk about jumping on the Heat bandwagon but how about the hate LeBron bandwagon?

It’s only basketball, true but this shit is going to the national news and then you provide this bit of information… America starting to show their true colors… Besides, it’s only basketball

I don’t know what the word revolution means so don’t take the next sentence seriously but it sounds good… Lebron is starting a revolu(a?)tion

He’s going to switch to playing soccer?

I don’t see this this as taking it “too far”. A bit childish, maybe, but I think Ohioans have a right to be upset at LeBron. The one think that did strike me about the comments is that James came in second place, so Nowitzki’s “choice” doesn’t prove all that much. Abandon your team to go build one somewhere else when you’re a superstar and you almost win a championship the next year; if the Heat had missed the playoffs it’d make more sense.

He’d probably fit in over there, more than here at least… Could he even play soccer with his size, maybe a goalie…

While I agree that individual fans have the right to be upset, I think it’s in very poor taste for a senior public officer to take part in the public bashing. For one thing, it sends the wrong message to kids: to take joy in the failure of a single man; to actually take pride in the success of a team that’s as equally NOT yours as the team you hate. And what happens when Miami goes on to win it all next year, and Cleveland still sucks? Then what do you tell the kids?

Additionally, government leaders in the US often take pride in “the American way”. Well, if I recall, the country was founded by people who weren’t happy where they lived and had the drive and ambition to move away and start something better for themselves. If anything, Lebron’s departure form Cleveland is about as American as you can get.

Evil? Hate? Really?

The silly part is that Cavs fans and Ohioans are rejoicing in the fact that LeBron came closer to a championship this year than he ever did with the Cavs, but fell short; meanwhile the Cavs were awful this year and will likely be bad for at least a few more seasons while the Heat are likely to win a championship at some point in that time.

Speaking as one of the few people who NEITHER a LeBron hater NOR a Heat fan… do I think this went too far? Not really. This is about typical for sports fans.

Making death threats is going too far. Throwing things at LeBron on the court is going too far. Cursing LeBron’s family is going too far.

But mere insults are par for the course.

Is it irrational and even a bit silly for people to hate LeBron? Sure- but it was just as irrational and silly that many fans loved him a year ago, and LeBron didn’t seem to mind that.

He’ll have to endure a lot of jokes and insults. Somehow, I imagine his money, his mansion, his sports cars and his yacht will provide some small consolation.

I live in a Cleveland suburb and am a Cavaliers’ fan. I did not appreciate the third-class way that James announced that he was leaving the Cavaliers, nor did I appreciate Governor Kasich’s publicity stunt of kicking James while he was down.

I’m an Ohioan, but not a Cavs fan. I do think LeBron brings all this upon himself. He made his stupid decision on an hour long ESPN production. He proclaimed in an absurd media event to introduce the Heat’s Big 3 that he’d win not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six NBA championships.

Now look at Dirk, who stuck with the Mavs even though he and the rest of the team are aging. Even though they hadn’t made it out of the first round of the playoffs since 2006 when they lost the championship series to the Heat. Dirk is what Cavs fans wished LeBron would have been. I got no problem with Kasich praising the Mavs for their accomplishment. If LeBron and his fans take that as kicking him while he’s down, too bad. Remember, we all have to get back to the real world and all our personal problems anyway.

Fair point. He could have made them “honorary Ohioans” before the series started if he’d had guts.

To be fair, LeBron was totally right about this: to date, he’s not won six, or five, or four, or three, or two, or even one championship.

I don’t think it means he should be assassinated though, and yes people are that stupid plus the fact that there are plenty of stupid people who hate (dislike?) Lebron… Those people are the ones who dislike him because the whole bunch of other people dislike him… And good point to who said it is bad for the kids and what we stand for

I don’t have a problem with this at all. Fact is, all of us Ohioans still have the same personal problems we did before the Heat lost. At least we can take comfort in the fact that “The King” still doesn’t have a ring.

Nobody’s talking assassination. We just don’t like him.

I don’t see anything wrong with what he did. He took a shot at a hated sports figure using some of the ceremonial powers of his office. We have senators (Herb Kohl) who own sports teams and former ones who played in sports (Bill Bradley) so it’s not like we expect politicians to be completely robotic when it comes to sports opinions. Plus, often the mayors of opposing cities make friendly bets on the series themselves.

Face it, James is hated by almost the entire state of Ohio. This was a bit of a ribbing but completely harmless. You might as well say to the President to stop hosting sports champions at the White House

What about the anti-anti-Lebron bandwagon? Sure, I hate Lebron, but I don’t think he’s evil and I certainly don’t think any of us who hate him are either. What’s with your completely undeserved and extreme protection of his haters? Saying we’re evil and comparing Lebron to a saint? Now who’s being delusional?

And like I said to you in the other topic, Lebron brought all of this on himself. His undeserved arrogance annoys people. Hell, you want to talk about saints and evil? Lebron himself, in his post-Finals interview, basically blamed god about his loss, saying that god has other plans for him. WTF is that shit?

It doesn’t make sense to say you like basketball when you hate the best player. It’s all marketing though so it doesn’t matter. I would love to know the difference in the amount of money made this year and last, yearly would be better…

And it doesn’t make sense to say you’re determining your like of a player based on the revenue he brings in

As for your statement, so what if I don’t like the best player. I like the sport of basketball, I like the organization of the NBA. I like the team of the Lakers. Lebron is simply one small cog in a much bigger wheel. Why do people root for underdogs? What I like doesn’t have any correlation with what is the best. The Mavs were the best team this year but I still like the Lakers. Boston has the most championships but I utterly hate them. It’s strange to me that you think simply that the best has to be liked. You seem like the textbook definition of a bandwagoner

This is almost as big an indictment of America as their classless booing of the Iron Sheik.

He’d be a terrible goalie. Goalies have to have mental toughness, come through in the clutch, and be able to take heat when things don’t work out. Also, he’d be required to play good defense at all times…
