When manhattan quit?

“Dude, Where’s my Death Ray”.

I still think it’s funny.

BBOOEEM!

Speaking of 1920’s style Death Rays -
Are scalar weapons for real?

:sniggers:

I didn’t say it wasn’t funny. I mean, if we keep it up, it won’t be funny, and that wouldn’t be fun, would it?

Guin - some jokes pass on to the other side, way past the point where they’re boring and tired. They gain a new, almost transcendental life, and as with ‘My cat’s breath smells like cat food,’ hamsters, and ‘the winter of missed content’, I feel we’re in close proximity of a new SDMB lore being born.

Imahine that it would be about 1920’s…

Please do. It makes them feel loved.

Hey, take 'em to the Pit, even. That’s never been done, right?

At least he didn’t leave any archaic sticky threads laying around when he quit. I’m wondering if we’ll ever get rid of that Potter sticky.
I have been modded by Euty lately though. It’s the weirdest thing seeing him with less posts and newer registration date then myself.

Scalar weapons ain’t worth a damn.

To the vector go the spoils.

That’s a literary allusion, btw. Let’s see who picks it up.

You’d think DreadCthulhu would be able to be the world’s undoing without a 1920s-style “Death Ray”, but what do I know?

I make it a rule never to pick up anything that’s spoiled.

Ok, I’m getting more than just a little sick of this shit! I have seen this -1920’s style “Death Ray”- thing, day in and day out since its mistaken triple post and subsequent dog pile. Jeebus cripes you pahyepole! Where the hell is your sense of class! You all just want to go ahead and start another dang fool tradition * around here that stinks worse then the “Hi Opal” infection? Why cant you all be like ** ME* and show a little bit of restraint? NOT ONE TIME (except for above) have I ever posted the dreaded “1920’s” perpetual pain in the ass, new tradition - because I knew that soon enough, only *newbies * and attention mongers, on the SDMB would be posting it, and I for one would never want to be mistaken as such.

Oh and for the record, I sure wish I had a

** 1920’s style “Death Ray” **

Ahem.

  • I feel much better now!*

Hi Opal!

I just thought of something-since manny and euty are no longer mods, how does that affect the Mod Pit Threads Tally?

Someday a Hank Aaron will come along, I’m sure. If I’m still around I’ll even congratulate him. But I’ll still be Babe Ruth. Look for signed copies of my thread closings on ebay.

And I’ll still be stuck with the curse of the Bambino.

Not if you got those penicillin shots I advised you to get after your last turn with the goat.

So why’s everyone ragging on Homer regarding the phrase “When Manhattan quit?”

His usage is perfectly correct: to quit v.i. To cease, desist from, or leave an activity, job, habit, or SDMB moderating. past quit*p.p. *quit.

The word quitted does exist but only in the sense of physically leaving a place, as in “Following a court order, they quitted the premises”.

Trent Steele: You like Thai?
Homer: Me like tie. You like shirt?

Because it might have been more understandable as “When did Manhattan quit?” … that’s my take on it.

Signed,
Flami (who has tons of 1920s style death rays at her brother’s house)
