I’ve now seen the picture and I’m still hating. It’s visceral. And, from the expression on her face, she’s still hating too.
I don’t think I posted in this thread when it came out. I live in a Northern city where the suffering was deep during Thatcher’s term of office. There is a longstanding party planned for a park very near the centre. That’s where I’ll be.
Doesn’t deny my point. Thatcher dragged Britain rightwards; Reagan dragged American rightwards. Obama delivered universal healthcare, so that in 2014 the US will join the remainder of the first world in that regards.
You spoke accurately of changes. I spoke of positions. I repeat: Thatcher’s Britain was far to the left of anything the US has had in the present or past.
I’m unlikely to vote for a Republican President in my lifetime as the party has simply traveled beyond the bounds of reason and even tradition. I’d consider voting for a Thatcher, although I suspect the SDP would be more likely to receive my support. And of course less revolutionary Tories would also receive my consideration, as would moderate leaders of Labour. I am a member of the far left fringe of the American politico-media spectrum.
A classic case of all looks yellow to the jaundiced eye, or the seer seeing what he wants to see. If you seriously see hate in that expression you need to visit an oculist (or a psychoanalyst).
The US will not have universal health care in 2014. The new US health care system, which is based on the system that was implemented in Massachusetts (which I have personal experience of) is not universal. Effectively, it forces people to either buy health insurance or pay a fine. That is not universal, nor is it health care. It is an insurance industry scam.
Hopefully after being cremated and the ashes mixed with concrete, which is cured in the shape of a bollard, coated with lead suitably engraved with arcane symbols and THEN dropped into the deepest part of the Marianas Trench. NOT for 20 minutes. For several billion years.
But she’ll probably end up in Westminster Abbey or something.
Yeah maybe I am overeacting but to me, bewildered and lost as she seems, I think she would still like to take down the buggers who have brought her to this. (ARA General Scargill, ARA Minister Wet, ARA Gerry Adams, ARA Dr Alzheimer, down with all hands. Rejoice!).
Now that I’ve looked at the picture. Edited to add: Good doggie go get 'em!
I really, really hope that she doesn’t die for a few years yet. The Tories will give her a state funeral. Please, God, let her hang on until Labour are back in power, then she can go, and good riddance.
Margaret Thatcher was the last brilliant English leader. Probably the last one the Brits will ever have, considering the sorry state of those miserable isles. I’ll save my champagne for when the Danish equivalent of the stupid airhead Jimmy Carter dies. Perhaps I’ll throw in a little party too when good old Jimbo dies as well, just because he’s such a gigantic fuckup. Or if Obama decides to go belly up. That’d be great as well. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch Obama by his toe.
Always nice to see some good old-fashioned unabashed racism in response to criticism of conservative heroes. Fight hate with hate! Thanks for posting.
Racism is a traditional, conservative value. Which individual can be considered a conservative hero for being a reactionary in the face of overwhelming change that won’t be ridiculed in posterity?
Cardinal Bellarmine? Edmund Burke? Bishop Wilberforce?
