Sadly, Michael Coccione who portrayed QT both on the show and in the musical group 2gether, passed away this past weekend. While I was never a huge fan of them, it is always very tragic when death takes someone so young, he was only 16. Apparently he was suffering from Hodgkins disease.
After an appropriate peroiod of mourning, I do wonder if and how 2gether will continue. Surely they’ll band together to pay tribute to their fallen comrade, but what then. Will a replacement be brought in? Maybe not immediately, but eventually? Also, if the show continues, I feel they really must acknowledge that the character of QT has passed away, ideally raising awareness of Hodgkins disease in the process, but my only worry is that the producers would be unable to create a tribute episode that wasn’t too smaltzy or sentimental. To be honest, I don’t know if these actors can play heartfelt emotion…
But in any event, do you think it will continue, or did the loss of QT sign the death warrant on this group…
