[Warning: This post may contain irrational bitterness.]
When I read SHAKES post here, I hit the roof, old wounds opened and my metaphors got all mixed around.
It would be lovely to look like Laetitia Casta. But it’s okay that I don’t. What is not okay is that chicks who do can do whatever the fuck they want with zero consequences. Perfect skin? C-cup? Waist you can fit through a keyring? You have a free pass to do whatever awful shit you want to men, because for every one you alienate with your shitty-ass behaviour, five more will be lining up to lick your perfect toenails!
You don’t have to worry about being loved or accepted! You’ve got a speedpass to all the privileges Western society has to offer. Beauty is currency and if you’re rich you can buy anything you want, do anything you want and say anything you want. Life is your playground, honey, and the world is your oyster.
Enjoy it and the rest of us will clean up your mess and subsist on your leftovers.
Naw, I don’t think the OP is aimed at Shakes, just at one more example of a woman who apparently has learned that she can get away with any kind of nasty behavior because of her looks.
Sort of like when one of the guys on the board gets angry and posts about guys who get away with treating women like shit but always seem to have a couple dozen waiting in the wings, while nice guys get treated like a sympathetic brother.
I agree, I’ve just been looking and marveling at human behavior for too many years now to bother getting to upset about it anymore. The best you can hope for is that people who get treated the way Shakes did develop the sort of mental filing system that drops a victimizer into the “ugly - avoid at all costs” category instead of the “hotcha - what I could do with that” category.
If she said ‘I’ll do X for you if you do A’ and he performs A, whereupon she says ‘you’re such a loser, you thought I was serious? Get a spine!’ In a room full of people nonetheless.
Yes. Each and every person who would do something like that is scum at the bottom of the barrel.
There’s a difference between asking a guy to hit on you and being hit on by a creep you haven’t given any encouragement to. (Please don’t expect me to believe strippers aren’t used to getting hit on. Showing your tits to a roomful of guys is considered encouragement.)
I just hate the whole system. Men have power and money, and if women have beauty, they get a cut of the power and money, and they don’t even have to lift a finger.
It seems as though the drop-dead gorgeous get all the best things out of life with a minimum of effort. And I hate the way people get stepped-on and used in a system like that!
You’re going to have to remind me where I, being a man, get my share of the power and money. Strangely, I seem to be very short on power and money right now. Where’s my cut?
And why is it that the beautful Mrs. RickJay is with a guy like me, without much power and money? Where’s her effortless reward?
Hell, having tits in a roomfull of guys is considered encouragement.
She’s a stripper. Somehow, I don’t see her as being in line for “all the best things in life.” I feel bad for SHAKES, but c’mon. She’s a stripper. “Compassion” isn’t exactly the first word that springs to mind when I think of strippers.
Also, on behalf of all the beautiful people*, I think the lookism implied by the OP is pretty ugly. Good looking people can be nice, ugly people can be assholes.
[sub]*I’m not one of the beautiful people myself. They asked me to post this for them because right now is “Mirror Time.”[/sub]
Actually, kung fu lola, if it makes you feel any better, it works both ways:
I just hate the whole system. Women have killer bodies, and if men have money, they get great sex and an esteem boost, and they don’t even have to lift a finger.
It seems as though the rich guys get all the best things out of life with a minimum of effort. And I hate the way people get stepped-on and used in a system like that!
See what I mean? Lola: guys like hot girls as much as girls like rich guys, and yes… beauty is currency. Oh yeah, and currency is currency, too.
I would not be surprised to learn that that stripper is seeing a guy who mistreats her.
As far as the whole money & power thing goes, I agree that there’s a lot of couples that consist of (rich guy + hot babe). But I believe that there’s also a “silent majority” of middle-of-the-road, middle class, average looking couples out there.
A couple more thoughts:
If you’re a “nice guy” who’s always losing out to the “jerks,” you can learn how to be assertive enough to get girls, but still be a nice guy.
But there does seem to be a lot of prejudice against unattractive women, and that sucks.
Here’s a comforting thought: The majority of the women who use their looks abusively are going to wake up some day and be 50 and want nothing more than to kill themselves. They will look like shit, have lost all their power over men, (who will undoubtedly have dumped their sorry asses, because the kind of men that women like that end up with are the kind of men who only care about looks) and because they spent their lives relying on their looks, will have absolutely nothing left to offer the world. They will have to live with the empty shells they have made of themselves. Their misery will far surpass any fleeting pain they have inflicted on the sweet young men like SHAKES, and will last far longer.
